Fittment Question- run 245s instead of 265s?

Have an R class and am looking to replace the factory 18" wheels with a set of 20" wheels which have 245/45R20 tires mounted, but factory spec for 20" wheel for the R calls for a 265/45R20 tire. will I be OK running the narrower tires? the 20" wheels are factory spec, but the tires are not. thanks

rims with proper offset and 245's instead of the suggested 265's will be 20mm narrower (no problem) but 7/10 in shorter so they will rotate about 9 more rev per mile than your 18's so the 245's are actually closer to the correct diameter then the 265's. Well within the 3% error margin allowed.
If they are the proper offset the only issues you will have is the degradation of your ride quality and the fear of potholes and cracked rims.
Going from a sidewall of about 5.5 inches to a low profile with a 4.3 inch sidewall is going to be eye opening ride quality wise. Check with wife first,if married.
