Luke...help with E-500 tires
Luke:
I want to replace the Continental CH95's, 245/45/17 on
my E-500 (non-sport) which is on order (a replacement car).
(I also have to get rid of the CH95's on the new car)
I have 15,000 miles on them and are not happy with them. They are nosier than I would like and very squirrelly at high freeway speeds.
I would like to have Michelins and can't seem to get the right tire pinned down. I am looking for a quiet, comfort ride with decent wear. We have very little snow, but A/S makes sense to me.
My first choice was the Energy MXV4 plus...can't find my size on the Tire Rack site or the Michelin site.
Second choice was the Pilot HX MXM4...same problem, except that it seems that someone on the W211 forum posted that he had them on his new E-500. Are they available?
The only tire that the Tire Rack site shows for the E-500 with my preferences is the Pilot XGT H4. The noise and comfort rating on this tire is not high.
I guess I could go with the Pilot Sport A/S...but big bucks and not sure about quiet and wear.
What do you recommend?
Ed

depends on the weather
from your post info I recommend you look into these tires
P245/45R17 CO EXTREME CONTACT 110.00
P245/45ZR17 DU SPORT 5000 140.00
245/45ZR17 MI PILOT SPORT AS 213.00
P245/45R17 PI P-ZERO NERO MS 156.00
P245/45R17 YO AVS DB S2 144.00
as you can see the Pilot Sport A/S is quite expensive but, it is an excellent tire .... if it was my choice I would get the P-Zero because I am an aggressive driver and love the steering response and grip they offer but, for you the Sport 5000 would probably meet your needs better or maybe the AVS DB series 2

oh yea! I forgot about the SP5000. GREAT TIRE! I would highly recommend it. I have driven with these tires on an ML350 and they are really quiet and soak up the bumps real well.
