Luke, I've been asked this question quite a few times....
The angle of the valve hole and the relief area that is machined into the wheel is not always compatible.
There are 3 major suppliers of these types of system to automotive manufacturers; Beru, Schader & Pacific and several other lower teir companies for aftermarket systems. Mercedes uses the Beru ( pronounced "bay-roo" ) system
There are several different versions of the sensor with dramitcally different MgHz frequencies and all of the different sensors require the use of different vavle assemblies which are also different.
Many people have used wheels that do not have the correct relief area and or valve angle in the past only to cause sensor failure and at over $120.00 each ( and alot more from a Mercedes dealership ) it can be a very costly mistake.
