E55
Luke, need help on tires for cold weather

I recently test drove an E55. Traction seemed poorer than I had expected. Without downshifting even the wheels were spinning and the traction light kept coming on.

I assumed this was due to the cold weather. It was about 40 that day.

If I were to purchase the E55, what would you recommend for tires. It can be cold here for six months or more.

I drove an S class with winter tires on the same day and it was an unsatisfying feeling due to the tires.

I had thought of all weather, but I am not sure what would fit and give me the best performance.

Pirelli 7000's come in the right size. What other A/S can I fit? Will the rear rims accept 275/35's?

depends on the weather
Now, I live in South Bend Indiana and drive on summer tires for 8-9 months a year in a car with more HP's with no problems .... in colder temps the summer tires do not have as much grip so, I adjust my driving accordingly ...... that's just the way things are .... currently there is not an accpetable all-season tire for a w211 E55

E55
Luke

Welcome to Chicagoland. Do you expect good A/S tires for the E55 in the near future?

Of course an 8 month car is better than a 4 month car!

I live 1 hour due east of Chicago .... we get the same weather only alot more snow ... i don't understand why you are claiming the E55 would be a 4 month car
