Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires directional?

Hi
I was looking at 225/55Z R16 Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires (tyres for the other side of the pond). It's label with an "outside" on the tires. That would make the tread profile different on the inside vs. the outside thread patterns.

The tires also look as if they have a rotational difference too, but no sign or marking which indicate the direction to have them turning.

Should periodical tire rotation also include an right to left?

I also noticed that the outter treads on Michellin Defenders and the Conti Extreme Contact DWS are about 1/32 less deep than the middle threads. Is this true on other brands and models of tires?

I wish Costco would carry the Conti tires.

They are asymmetric, so have an inside and an outside. But they are not directional and can be swapped from one side of the car to the other.

Yes they are definately asymmetric on inside vs. outside (major threads in different positions). They also look directional on the wave shape thread to the edge of the tire. It should pump water out from the center, so the center contacts first and the end of the wave (edge) contacts later. If the tire is changed to the other side, it will have the side contact first then rotate to the center. The wave it not tilted much but when spining fast it could be significant.

If you don't trust our advice, why bother asking? May I suggest you give Tirerack a call, I am sure they can provide a solid answer.

depends on the weather
ExtremeContact DWS features an advanced silica-based, high-grip, all-season tread compound molded into a unique asymmetrical tread design with stable shoulder blocks and a continuous, notched intermediate rib on the outboard side to enhance responsiveness and cornering stability.

I did not mean any insult. My appoligies.

Just asking for clarification and trying to describle that the grove pattern does not look equalized between the right and left for my four tires. But as you and Conti said they are not directional.
