Angry Wheel Fitment - help needed

I have a 2002 C32. After reading every post here and on the other forum about wheel fitment and the rubbing issues encountered by othrers, I decided to order custom made wheels directly from the manufacturer (Iforged). 18X8.5 front and 18X9.5 rear. They assured me they had done many C32's and there would not be any rubbing problems. I have h&r coilovers, adjusted to the highest setting, but I was worried about rubbing and received assurance in writing that the wheels would fit and that they would be built with a 35mm offset both front and rear.

Guess What? They do not fit! I mounted 225/40x18 tires in the front and 255/35x18 in the rear - Goodyear F1 GS-3

The front wheels hit the perch on the coilovers. Iforged offered to change the inner rim on the wheel by putting a 1/2 inch smaller rim and making the wheel an 8" width. However they will fit as is with a 5mm spacer.

The rears extend outside the fender by a good 1/4 inch and the tires rub on the fender with even the slightest bump. I removed the wheels and measured the distance from the hub (where the wheel mounts to the center of the wheel) to determine if the offset was correct. The hub is offset slightly less than 1 inch from the center. The way I understand offset this means the wheel offset is about 24mm. I sent the wheels back to Iforged and they claim the wheels are built to the correct 35mm spec and they should fit. I am missing something???

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

sounds to me like you have an offset problem. Pull off one wheel & measure the backspacing . Do the math using your wheel width & you get the offset. Many people on this board have your wheel/tire sizes & no rubbing.

Posting some pictures would help us see the problem...

In my opinion this is the ideal wheel/tire combo for the W203(but yours should still work)
F = 18x8 et35, 225/40
R = 18x9 et35, 255/35

Unhappy

The wheels are at Iforged right now, but the backspacing was approximately 6.25 inches. Offset and backspacing should be related. Total width of wheel outside to outside =10.5 inches. Center point = 5.25 Hub sits about one inch beyond center Backspacing therefore = 6.25 inches

Iforged finally agreed that my measurements were correct and that the wheels have a 25mm offset. They are changing the lips so the offset will be 35mm. Hopefully they work without rubbing when I get them back!
