Toyo T1-S versus Continental ContiSportContact 2

Which is better? Can someone help me out?

I ordered the Toyos for my 19" HRE 840Rs, but somehow they sold my rears.

The dealer suggested I go with Continental ContiSportContact 2s and said they were superior to the Toyos. He said the Toyos will get noisy after a while and that I would be unhappy.

Is this true? Can someone help me out. I need to know by Sat (2/14) in the morning. Thanks!!!

I have heard nothing but good info and rave reviews on the Toyo TS-1 tires.

They may wear a little faster than others, but all the positive points (Quietness, dry/wet handling) outweigh that.

No, T1-S is one of the most durable tires on earth. I have put on 20,000+ miles on my car and I have at least 50% of tread left.

My 2 cents

Had 4 set of tires so far on my E55 (W210). OEM Pilot Sports was very good and last 13kmiles. Changed to S03, in less than 500 miles got both front set replaced by tirerack for out of roundness. After less than 1000 miles sold the S03 to a friend (S03, good handling but have some noise and relatively heavy tires). At 14kmiles got a set of T1S (very light tires). Impressed by the handling, noise and ride characteristics when new. But at 25kmiles (30% tread left) the tire become very noisy (roadholding is still excellent, just very noisy). At 26kmiles replaced with Yoko AVS db2 which is amazingly quiet but less precise handling and slower responding to steering input (almost 3kmiles on the Yoko so far)

A friend of mine have ContiSport2 on his Audi S4, his comment was that he felt the tire wear way much faster compared to his original Bridgestone RE040. Handling is comparable to the RE040 in his opinion.

Hope this give you some feedback on comparison.

I'm not sure I understand - did you put 25K miles on the T1S tires and still had 30% tread left? What size are your rims?

I ended up getting the contact2s since they were out of Toyos. the sales guy talked me out of Toyos.

The contact2s are alright, but I don't really have a comparison. My next set will be toyos.
