Painting/Pwdercoating part of a wheel

I am in the market for some new wheels for my W208. I want to do something in a black center with a chrome/polished lip. what is the best way to go about doing this? I have heard that paint will discolor due to the heat of the brakes. Also, can you powdercoat just part of a wheel? Any information anyone can give is greatly appreciated.

Are you planning on painting yourself? Most wheels are painted. If not chromed or polished they are just painted silver. The paint on wheels is really no different than the paint on the car.

I love the look of Black centers with polished lips.

No, I am not going to paint them myself. I was planning on finding a reputtable body shop to do it to make sure it is done right. Or do wheel manufacturers offer this service? I know Lowenhart's are available in black but what about HRE, etc. I want the paint to match the factory color of the car and to have sufficient clear coat for protection. It has been a desire to do a black car with black wheels for a couple of years and I am finally getting the chance to do it so I want to do it correctly.

Probably any company that build wheels can do it. I would also check out wheel repair shops. Good Luck.

you can try wheelenhancement

www.wheelenhancement.com

they specialize in Porsche rims, but they will do others if you ask. They have the capability to do any custom finish you can think of. They can be expensive, but the quality is the best I have ever seen (they do rims for concours cars) and paying up once is cheaper than paying up twice as they say..
