Need info on preserving rolling stock diameter(Luke)...

Luke--
On our 03 ML55, we have tire size 295/45-20.(w/brabus wheels, the tire size brabus recommends) The standard, rolling stock tire size on a ML55 is 285/50-18. Since Brabus is a performace enhancing company, I would think that the size they recommend would preserve the rolling stock size, therefore preserving the performance of the car. Are the tires currently on the car equal to the stock size, or would a lower profile 40 series be? A few people have said that 295/40-20 is equivalent to stock, but I wanted to ask a professional to make sure... thanks!

depends on the weather
here is a list of usable sizes and their corresponding diameters

285/50-18T 29.2
285/55-18 30.3
285/45-19 29.1
265/50-20 30.4
295/40-20 29.2
295/45-20 30.4

so, looking at the list you can see the 295/40-20 is the same diameter as the original 285/50-18
