What is ContiProContact?

It came up first in a Tire Rack seach for Ride-Handling-Tread Life in a search for 245/40-18. There is no other info about it on the Tire Rack, Conti US, or Conti DE sites.

depends on the weather
at this time it is an OE tire for a couple of cars but, it is the long term replacement for the ContiTouring CH95 ..... a touring all-season "H" rated tire

Is there any more info on it? How does it compare in ride/noise/handling to other 245/40-18 tires: F1, PS2, Russo, dB2, etc.?

Which cars does it come on?

For an E320 with 18" wheels, is it a good choice? The Grand Touring tires seem to have significantly better noise/ride than any of the max/ultra performance summer/all-season tires.

Thanks,

David

I am looking forward to your review. The big wheels are really bling thing. We are hoping to preserve the ride.

For performance we would go with 245/50-16...and a fair number of interesting tires (F1 GS-D3, G009, KDW) are available in that size.

Here is my little review of a few tires

There have been 5-6 sets of tires on my BMW 740. My review is from both track time (10+ days on the track), city driving and highway driving.

The best is the Michelin Pilot Sports by far....no competition...great grip, stopping and real life drivability....however I know that MB has an issue with them. Not sure why yet.

The second best was the Toyo Proxy's, not a bad second choice and a little cheaper too. They seemed to roll a'bit more then the Pilots on the track and where a bit louder around town..but I hear the new Proxy 4s are better on both fronts (in fact the 4s are on my CLK 430 and I really do like them)

3rd is the Pirelli P-zero's... a slight drop in both areas

4th. Continental ContiSport's........for a smooth ride but not a great handling tire, when pushed super hard. (if you are an around town and highway cruiser these maybe the best...but if you drive hard or track your car...no way)

At the bottom is the Goodyear F-1's and just a small step above the bottom was the S-03's. Bridgestone's are known for their very stiff ride and they were very temperamental to balance correctly. Actually hated those ones. They made the car feel like brick. (if you were track only, they may work for you)

nope

are those the all seasons? If they are, my brother has them on his BMW and likes them alot. You also have the worry of Merc not liking them very much for some reason....see the post above. I have never gotten a clear answer on the reasons, but.......

My new tires are Michelin PS 2.
The previous ones were Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ( All Season ).
They are the ones Mercedes had an issue with ( mostly vehicle tracking & wandering ), even though I never experienced these issues.
