Question Can 265/35-18 fit into 8.5 x 18?

I know that a number of the members are running a 265 rear. Can I use a 18 x 8.5 inch rim? I have a set of BBS RSII that are 18 x 8.5 on all four corners. Will something as large as a 265/35-18 fit into this rim? It may not be recommended but can it be done?
Thank you.

depends on the weather
minimum wheel width for a 265/35-18 is 9.0" and it is not a good idea to stagger tires on non0staggered wheels ... the differences in sidewall deflection rates will adversely effect the cars handling

What is the largest tire for a 8.5 x18

Hi Luke,

I have 235/40-18s on 8.5 x 18s. I was hoping to do a 265/35-18 but it is not recommended by you and I understand that.

What size can I run if I want a larger rear tire? Thank you.

Judging by the days that have gone by, I don't think he's going to answer your question and I think it's because he already did in the previous post where he said "...it is not a good idea to stagger tires on nonstaggered wheels ... the differences in sidewall deflection rates will adversely effect the cars handling..."

Oh well. He must be busy.

I got my answer. Luke said that it is not a good idea but I have other people that said that it is ok. I am going to get 265/35s.

let me know how you do. I'm going to get 18" as soon as the dealer where I decided to buy them from gets his power back. After the hurricane that hit us, 25% of the island still doesn't have power, so it'll take some time for my rims.

Thumbs up I think it will be fine. 265 is not that big of a deal.

I think it is going to be ok. 265 is not that big. I have 335 on one of my cars. I really like the look of the larger rear tire but I was a little concern about an 8 1/2 rim for a 9 wide inch tire.
I will keep you posted.

Hint. It is my name.

I don't like to brag. I have always love wide rear tire. I have 315 on my 911 and 335 on my beloved toy. This is getting off-topic.
