Winter Tires/Rims C320 4Matic

People,
Winter is approaching. I'm looking for snow tire and rim recommendations. Our 04 C320 4Matic has stock 16" rims with Michelin X4's. They did pretty good in the snow in March when we got the car.
Tires? Do slightly taller/narrower tires increase ground clearance and improve snow traction? How wide should the tires be?
Rims? Are there advantages to installing larger rims? 17" ? 18" ? How wide should the rims be?
Thanks for any answers.
Pete

Stick with the 16" wheels for winter. I think you can run a 205/55R16 tire, but I am not sure.

I would go with either the Dunlop SP Wintersport M2 or M3 tires. These are great tires and you can't go wrong.

You can get steel wheels to use for winter from your dealer or the tirerack.com.
