AMG Wheels on E430 SE
Does anybody know if the AMG Monoblock II wheels in the 18x8 and 18x9 (rear) will fit on a 2002 E430 Special Edition? I ordered them as part of a new car purchase, but from what I'm reading it looks like the rear offset might create a problem since I don't have the rest of the AMG package. I just don't want to be disappointed when they arrive...
Thanks!

E55 Kev - I bought the car from Auto Stiegler in Encino California, and the options are going to be dealer installed. I opted for the AMG wheels, CD changer, wood & leather steering wheel, and an all-wood shift knob. I wanted the multi contour seats, but I was told that option was not available since production had ceased.
Any additional comments you experts have out there are certainly appreciated!

OK - not trying to be too technical with semantics. The items you are 'buying' rather than 'ordering' are dealer installed items rather than 'options'. Options come from the factory. The seats can not be dealer installed.
Are you getting AMG 18x8 all around or a staggered setup with 18X9 in rear? thanks.
Semantics are important as I don't want someone helping me, only to find out I misinformed them.
I'm getting the staggered setup, which is why I'm a little concerned. I saw the setup on an AMG, but I thought the rear wheel well/fender was flared a bit more to accomodate them. The dealer wrote "same as E55" on the order ticket, and I assumed they would know if that combination would fit mine.
Thanks..

The US E55 comes with:
18X8 - 245/40/18 front
18X9 - 275/35/18 rear
However, the recommended setup for Regular E's is:
18X8 235/40/18 front
18X9 265/35/18 rear
Here is where the debate come in. The E55 has modified fender wells, either fender lip rolling and/or different fender linings to accomodate the wider tires. The TireRack and Mercedes recommends the smaller setup unless the fenders are modified. There are regular E owners who have upgraded to the wider setup without fender modification and swear they have no problems. The fender rubbing comes to play maybe only during 'spirited' driving and handling with hard and fast cornering. Hell, I had fender rub with my 98 E430 with 235/45/17 up front during 'spirited' driving plus the suspension on the regular E is too soft. The E55 has a stiffer suspension.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I'll opt for the recommended setup and contact the dealer today. In the lot I believe I saw a non-AMG E with the AMG wheels, and there only appeared to be about 1 inch of clearance between the tire and the fender. I'll probably end up with the same thing if I continue with my present order.
I think I'm set now...
Thanks!
The dealer went ahead and put the 18X8 - 245/40/18 front and 18X9 - 275/35/18 rear with Michelin Pilot Sport tires on. So far it seems okay, and I doubt I'll be doing much spirited driving. I definitely like having the 4-Matic, but the loaner car the dealer provided was an 02' E320 which seemed to far more "tossable" than mine.
I'll check to see if there are more posts on this, but do you have a recommendation on lug-nut wheel locks? Do people still use them?
Thanks!

235/40/18
265/35/18
Maybe the 4-Matic makes the car less nimble. I have never driven a 4-Matic nor AWD sedan, but I do notice a big change in handling when I drive my truck in 4X4 versus RWD.

I'll sell mine for 600 bucks (wheels only, AMG Monoblock)
E-mail me for pics, as wheel lips are scratched but repairable.
