E55 Ride Height with H&R Springs

Just installed H&R spings on E55 today, not harsh at all, I expected a little firmer. It actually feels more compliant on sharp edge ridges than standard Euro AMG.
Am a little disappointed that it has only dropped ride height 1/2 inch. Can I expect the suspension to settle and drop a bit more??

What shocks are you using in combination of your H & R springs? Also pls post some pics.

Thanks!

Stephens,

Congrats on your H&R's! It is normal for the springs to settle within the first 500 miles. I would expect around another 1/4" when the springs are done settling.

If you are unhappy with the drop, you can change your the size of your spring pads. Spring pads are a rubber cushion that hold the spring in the upper perch. A smaller pad would have less cushioning, but the difference in ride quality is not much.

Most E55's come with a size 4 up front and size 3 in the rear. If you were to change to a size 2 in front and 1 in rear, you would lower the car an additional cm (5mm step between each sized pad). It is important to keep the front one step higher (430/55), as it compensates for the additional weight of the engine. You can get the spring pads for your car at your MB dealer's parts dept, or from us.

I changed my spring pads to the 2/1 and am very happy with the results. Mr. Vanos also chose to change his spring pads to a 2/1 (H&R springs and Koni Adj dampeners). Here is a picture of his car:

Thanks

Ben

Give it a few hundred miles, and let us know if you are happy with the height afterwards.

Thanks,

Ben
