spring install pricing....

I just ordered some H&R's and I have been quoted all over the place for install...from 600-400....what seems to be the "norm" with respect to pricing...its not that hard of a job.

It seems to vary tremendously depending on where you live, and the experience of the shops. Out here in SoCal W210 installs can be had for around $100, and take only 30 minutes. This car really is one of the easiest to lower with the right spring compressor for the front.

Anyplace charging $600 doesn't have the right compressor for the front, and is more than likely disassembling much more than needed.

For that price you could buy the compressor yourself, and DIY.

Thanks for the good info, unfortunately over here in the MD/DC area we get gouged on stuff like this.

I was charged $100 per corner ($400 total) for my H&R PLUS Koni shock install. A bit hefty for the Atlanta market but it was done by a tire and suspension shop that specializes in high performance - figured the extra attention to detail.

There is absolutely no justification for charging $600 to install 4 springs (especially without also installing shocks)! It's way too easy a job to charge that kind of money in good conscience. And if they don't have the right spring compressor for the job (internal as opposed to external hook units), they should not be doing that kind of work on MBs in the first place.

I actually had someone quote me 1000.00 this is crazy...the lowest I have found is 300.00 and I made an appointment with him on Friday.

Go with 300.00 - it sure seems to be on a lower side in this corner of the world. I ended up paying 400+ to ASC of Arlington for 2 front springs - did the rears myself (a 100% DIY, easy job).

Jay, are you changing you spring pads also? If you want smaller ones you will have to get them from dealer to take with you.
