Running winter tire/wheel square set up
My 2022 MB AMG GLC 43 came with 255/40 r21 tires with 8.5 x 21 wheels / 285/35 r21 tires with 9.5 x 21 wheels
I was wondering if I could go square with 255//45 r20 tires in both front and back running 8.5 x 20 wheels
Does anyone know if its possible with damaging the rear bias AWD system

Yes, you can run that square setup without damaging the AWD system.
The overall diameter of the 255/45R20 tires is almost identical to your original rear tires, which is the critical part. The system just needs all four tires to be rolling at the same speed.
Using the same size tire and wheel on all four corners is a common and safe practice for winter sets. You'll be fine.
