Cntinental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires treadwear

that came with a new of set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires .
I've been very impressed with the ride and handling of these tires, and based on the 50K mile treadwear warranty
they appear they might last a while. I was curious how much they might cost to replace, went to the TR website and see
they are ~720 a set but right now. TR has a deal where you get $200 back from Conti with their credit card.
I Was thinking of buying a set and holding onto them for a whiile. Stuff isn't getting any cheaper! And $520 after rebates is a a kickass price for top line tires.
BUT last night I checked the tread on my tires after 4K mile and see I am at 7/32 .
So doing the math that puts the life of the tire at a mere 10K miles! Yikes!
Thats a far cry from the advertised 50K mile warranty.
A while TR is full of glowing reviews for these tires,
if you drill down to the 0-1 star reviews people are yes,, getting low life of these
and the warranty is basically worthless since you have to 1st PURCHASE new tires (the same ones that
let you down in the 1st place) and then SEND them to Continental to decide if they'll refund you or not.
I am not doing that. How much to ship 4 tires to Continental? Fuggetaboutit!
I had a set of Sumi's that had the tread seperate after only a few K miles after a few years
I purchased from TR and no Sumi dealer near me and sending the to Sumi was gonna cost well over $100 . So I ate it on those.
Yeah, Sue-me Tomo. Good luck with that.
So what sayeth you guys? What is your experience with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires?
What's the best all weather lo-profile tire out there
for Mercedes as far as treadwear goes? I don't need it to go in the snow but it rains
pitchforks and hammer handles around here like 80+ inches year so they need to be good in the rain and dry,
Look forward to hearing from y'all.

I have around 16,000 miles on the set on my SL 550 and around 18,000 miles on my wife's SUV. Plenty of tread life left on both sets.
19" wheels on the SL and 20" wheels on the GLC. Both sets are staggered, so no rotating of either set. Will definitely buy these again when needed.
