Hey!
I was test driving a Certified 2022 Mercedes E450 4matic sedan and noticed while reversing when I turned the wheel all the way to one side there was a loud rubbing/grinding kind of noise towards the end of the turn when the brake was pressed. When asked I was told this was normal. Does anyone else also hear that kind of noise in their car?
They put 2 new front tires which are the right size.
Here's a short video with sound: https://imgur.com/PUNECv0
Please share any experiences or input regarding this. Thanks in advance!

That's not a normal sound.
What you're hearing is likely the brake pads shifting in the caliper bracket during a tight, low-speed turn. It's a common noise on many modern Mercedes, especially the W213 E-Class.
While it's not usually a sign of a serious problem, it can be annoying. A dealer can sometimes fix it with special lubricant or shims on the brake pads. Since it's a CPO car, I'd ask them to check it out.

I test drove another car of same model and same 2022 year and that car also had the noise. At first the dealer said it doesn't seem normal. Then he got out a new car of same model and of year 2026. Surprisingly that car also had the same noise!Originally Posted by Alexie
