Ml burning through brakes

I had a 2200+ dollar brake job in June and the indicator light is blinking saying I need new brakes, is there an option for longer lasting brakes, or just stay w/ the mb route?

Check your brake fluid.

What kind of driving are you doing that you have burned through your pads so quickly? What did you do to your braking system requiring $2200?

I have an ML430 with ~50k miles. Front pads have been replaced twice and the rears once. This last time I changed to Porterfield pads. As good or better than stock with less dusting.

2200 covered rotors and pads, those are the third brakes its had in the front and one in the rear, normal driving includes traffic that goes from 80-0 and back to 80 all the time, and the car has 68,000 miles on it.

Looks like we have had close to the same number of pads, although I am still on my first set of rotors. They will probably need to be changed with the next set of pads.

$2200 sounds rather high for just rotors and pads. I believe I purchased my Porterfield pads and sensors for less than $300. I installed them myself, but lets say the dealer charges a total of $600 for pads and install, another $75 for fluid change and flush that leaves ~$1500 for rotors and install. Hell, lets say that the rotors are $150 each and it takes ~1hr a rotor to install so we are talking $1675. Still seems high. Damn, now you have me worried about my next brake change.

Of course I have been surprised by the Mercedes Tax before. For example everyone in Atlanta wants to charge $400 plus to install springs on my SLK32. Which is more than double what it should be.

Good luck finding a solution to your brakes. The only thing I can offer is to try some Porterfield pads, get a set of Brembo rotors cryogenically treated and find a good independent mechanic. Or sell the truck
