Saw this on another forum and wanted to share here.
I had positive results with ShipNex, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

3. Cut a medium sized storage box in half
4. Place wheel on top of cardboard and cut excess material away
5. Cover the face and the back of the wheel with cardboard
6. Secure with packing tape (no need to go overboard with tape here)
7. Place an old towel, blanket, or pillow on the bottom of the box
8. Place wheel inside of box
9. Place the 2nd wheel on top of the first and use excess cardboard for added protection around the edges of the wheels
10. With any extra space on top stuff it with newspaper, a beach or bath towel, an old pillow, a blanket or anything that will keep the wheels from shifting around too much in transit.
11. Secure box and label which way is up

i advise against using cardboard against the actual rim surface, at a minimum put a shirt or cloth of some kind to separate it. I received a rim almost exactly like this and the surface of the rim was damaged from the cardboard rubbing.

I can beat any advertised rate from any company. Get quotes from evrywhere else then contact me when you're ready to save the most money on all your shipping needs. PM or email me for rate quotes.

The site above estimated the material costs at about $20.
My approach was to visit the local tire shop and ask if I could go dumpster-diving for old boxes and foam padding. I got the exact size I needed, and the $20 I saved in Home Depot expenses and the hour I saved in box-building way offset the freight savings.

You guys are paying too much using UPS or anyone else for that matter. Go on the FedEx website and get a rate, then deduct 35% from that number, in some cases depending on what service we use it could be as much as 55% off! My rates can't be matched or beat by any other competitor out there.
I just had another member contact me about sending his 20" wheels from CA to GA, standard rate was $180, I sent them for $115 with $500 insurance on each one.
