amg wheels
i am a big fan of mercedes especialy any 600 ... just bought r140 600 and i cant find any upgrade for it ... at least i need those rims but dont know what size ...i hope someone can have those for sale ...
If you can imagine the wheel sitting inside the fender wheel-well, (looking from the front(or back)), a wheels offset or ET is what keeps the wheel centered inside the wheel-well. Keeping the wheel centered somewhat, keeps the wheel or tires from rubbing on the outside of the fender, of from rubbing on the inner suspension.
All cars are designed to use wheels with a specific range of offset (usually expressed in mm's). there is no universal offset(ET) that fits all cars, but many cars can share wheels because the Offset designs for the cars are similar. On the other hand, many wheels can't be shared, because the designed ET is far too different, as in this case.
Wheels with numerically low ET's push the wheel placement closer to the outside edge the fender, and a High ET pulls the wheel in closer to the suspension.
OZ Hammer wheels have ETs that are 17 & 18mm's, they would fit W126 S class cars perfectly. Hammer wheels are sized;
8.5 x 17 ET18 front & 10 x 17 ET17 rears
But the W140 design requires ET's in the high 40's and 50's, completely the opposite. typical stock 140 wheels are 7.5 x 16 ET 51
If you tried to mount an OZ standard Hammer wheel on a W140, they would most likely rub the outer fender, if not stick outside the fender.
In theory, if you had a set of Hammer wheels, since they are 3 piece wheels, a pro wheel shop could take them apart and install new barrel and lip sizes that would transform the ET to the upper 40's that you need.
To do this will require finding a set of hammer wheels with good centers, and buying all new barrels and lips, I'd bet you'd have over $4K invested before you were done.
Look for a different wheel type, one that is 7.5 to 8.5 wide and has an ET in the mid 40 to 50 range... They made a few different AMG mono block wheels for 140's,
Here is an 18" example; an AMG MonoII wheel built specifically for a W140, with a 140 partnumber...
These would look very sharp on your 140, the size of these wheels are 8-1/2" x 18" ET44
