After much teasing and spy-shooting, Mercedes has officially unveiled 2013 GL class at the New York Autoshow last week. It manages to be even bigger than the outgoing model at 84.3 inches wide and 201.6 inches long. Presumably, “G” in GL stands for ginormous.
That sound. Every time he hits the go pedal it’s like an angel gargles… Right before it turns into an outright roar. It’s easy to forget that Mercedes’ can be so raw because their street cars, while powerful, are demure. But when they hit the track… Achtung!
621 hp. That’s the kind of power lurking underneath the sculpted hood and sheet metal of Mercedes’ SL 65 AMG convertible cruise missile. The coupe made it’s official debut at the New York Auto Show earlier this week with that big, beautiful 6L V12 as it’s centerpiece.
Hopefully, Mercedes-Benz will be a little more lenient with this replica of the 300 SL. The one they crushed was just an aluminum copy, but this… This is art.
