2016 Mercedes-Benz GT AMG Gets Rendered

We’re about a year away from the unveiling of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GT AMG, and in addition to this rendering, more details are emerging about AMG’s next halo car.

Priced around $120,000 and set to compete directly against the Porsche 911, as well as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Maserati GranTurismo, Jaguar F-Type and Audi R8, Mercedes-Benz’s next sports car will get a new 4.0L biturbo V8 that will pump approximately 500 horsepower through a seven-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. A 600-horsepower version of this car is also likely.

While the GT AMG’s platform is based on the larger SLS, AMG is looking to keep the C190’s weight close to 3,300 pounds; about 400 pounds lighter than the SLS AMG Coupe.

Expect to see the Mercedes-Benz GT AMG glistening in your Benz dealer’s showroom in 2015.
