A Choice Few Modded Benzes from the SEMA Show Floor

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG at 2014 SEMA Show

There are times it’s OK to mess with perfection, and then there’s SEMA, where messing with perfection goes together like a good exhaust system and hearing loss. These few pictures are just a small collection of when tuning can either go right, or … not so right.

Let’s start off with something that’s done right. Here is a 2005 Mercedes G-Wagen created by LeTech USA. Eighteen inches of ground clearance, portal axles, and enough tread to get through the coming zombie apocalypse. It’s gorgeous … the way a G-Wagen should be modified.

Then you have the C63 at the top, which isn’t all bad, but maybe certain parts shouldn’t be there (ahem, the rear wing). What is done right are the carbon elements in the front of the car. Those pieces are actually quite good-looking and help reduce the car’s weight.

For the remaining photos, I’ll leave the opining to you. Between the red chrome SLR, the dubbed S-Class, and finally the Metris van concept, I’m sure there’s a lot for you to say.

SEMA is a wonderfully diverse place that helps us all bring our passions together, but also it can be the place where we see the weird edges of the automotive landscape.
