Mercedes-Benz is Recalling 130 Units of the 2013 SL-Class
The Mercedes-Benz SL550, SL63 AMG and SL65 AMG are being recalled for an occupant classification system malfunction. The system may fail to detect a lightweight person sitting in the front passenger seat. As a result, the passenger-side airbag may not deploy when necessary. Approximately 130 cars built from January 16 through April 30, 2013 are affected by this malfunction.
Later this month Mercedes-Benz will contact affected owners, at which time they can bring their cars to a Mercedes-Benz dealer to have the passenger seat cushion and occupant classification system replaced for free.
Owners of the affected vehicles can contact Mercedes-Benz at (201) 573-0600, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at (888) 327-4236 for further details.
