C55 Brabus?

C55 Brabus?
Hi! I'm currently searching for a C55 and I came across one that is Brabus badged.
Were there C55s that orginally came out Brabus badged from the factory?
Basically, I just wanted to know if this was just originally a C55 AMG that was Brabus moded by the owner or if there were really C55 Brabus tuned ones that came out badged from the factory.
Current owner (2nd), doesn't know the history of the car. He already got the car that way and didn't bother finding out this info from the original owner.
My apologies if this sounds like a dumb question but I've never owned a Merc before, so I'm not yet familiar with them.

No. It is an after-market badge. AMG cars are never badged with brabus out of the factory. Brabus is a separate tuner. They did do a W203 called the C V8, but it was not based on the C55. C55 came later.
Good luck, the C55 is an awesome and unique car.

Probably "Brabus" in name ONLY. There's many of them out there (poseurs) and you can even find ALL of the Brabus badges on fleabay!!

Thanks for the info guys!
I'm not sure if it's still possible nowadays, but back then you could order your bnew Merc from Brabus directly right? And what happens is that Brabus purchases the specific car from MB and customizes it in-house then delivers it to the customer. So essentially you have a Brabus tuned/badged Merc from day 1.
Apart from the badge, it has this set of Brabus wheels. I'm hoping that the suspension and engine are Brabus tuned as well.

2005 Brabus C55
i'm sure there's lot of "self-badged" cars out there.
mine is a MBZ C55 w/ Brabus mods (no motor), it was delivered to MB-New Port Beach (Fletcher-Jones) then sent to Brabus-North America-New Port beach for springs, wheels & appearence (badging, back lit door sills), but it is registered as a MBZ in CA
My understanding, in europe, you could buy a car "manufactured"/registered as a Brabus (rather than MBZ). Don't know that the US recognizes them as a OE or allows it's import.

rear bumper, regular rear Brabus bumper will do. just need to custom cut the opening for the right side.
side: brabus has no side skirt other than puddle lights.
steering wheel, shifter, floor mats, etc are all the same with the rest of the 203.

Best case, you have a Brabus-tuned and modified C55.
Worst case, you have a C55 with a replica badge and replica wheels from fleabay.
You could probably call Brabus NA, give them your VIN, and they'll be able to search to see if they ever worked on your car directly.
Also (although I don't know for certain), an authetic Brabus wheel probably has their name/logo stamped on the back somewhere. So that's something you could check, when you feel like jacking it up and taking a wheel off.

C55 AMG, CLK550
I was looking at a 2010 GLK recently in Valencia CA and it had the running boards, wheels and the ECU was flashed along with a BRABUS badge on the right rear of the truck. I called BRABUS here in L.A. and sent him a pic of the GLK. He immediately said that it was no BRABUS and that BRABUS doesn't put their badge on the right side of the car. I didn't know that but that's what the guy at BRABUS told me. The truck was sold by MB of Valencia.

Brabus indeed doesn't put badge on the right. if it's done at Brabus.

Interesting stuff and I considered it at one point but really expensive:
Mega Power for the Mercedes C-Class
BRABUS 6.1 S increased-displacement engine with 445 hp / 327 kW
BRABUS powers the new special model BRABUS C V8 S with this 445 hp / 327 kW high-performance engine - but that's not all. The engine conversion is also available for the new Mercedes models C 55 and SLK 55, which will be sold later this year. The eight-cylinder engine of the current Mercedes C-Class has a long successful tradition at BRABUS: Since the start of sales of the W/S/CL 203 series BRABUS has been fitting sedans, wagons and sport coupes with BRABUS eight-cylinder technology. The latest evolutionary stage is the BRABUS C V8 S, built in small-series production starting at 99,900 Euros. The heart of this high-performance automobile is the BRABUS 6.1 S increased-displacement engine, based on the new high-revving eight-cylinder three-valve engine from the CLK 55, also available for this model. To facilitate the displacement increase to 6.1 liters BRABUS uses a custom-machined engine block, a crankshaft with longer stroke, and larger pistons. The cylinder heads are also precision- machined and fitted with special camshafts. A stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with performance headers and metal catalysts also contributes to the impressive power yield as do custom-programmed engine electronics. The engine, the custom-calibrated five-speed transmission as well as the BRABUS locking differential are all operated with ARAL high-performance lubricants. The custom-developed locking differential is essential for the excellent traction of the driven rear wheels and optimizes acceleration performance. With 445 hp / 327 kW of power at 6,000 rpm and an enormous peak torque of 635 Nm at 4,500 rpm the BRABUS C V8 S delivers extraordinary performance: The special model accelerates in just 4.5 seconds to 100 km/h and reaches a top speed of 305 km/h. At those speeds efficient aerodynamics are of the utmost importance: The BRABUS front apron lends the C V8 S a more striking appearance and reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds. The BRABUS rear apron with integrated diffuser provides the optimal aerodynamic balance. The enormous performance potential places high demands on tires, suspension and brakes. The BRABUS C V8 S comes with multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock VI light-alloy wheels in size 8.5Jx19 on the front axle and in size 9.5Jx19 in the rear. The good-looking double-spoke wheels are fitted with tires in sizes 235/35 ZR 19 in front and 265/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle. BRABUS recommends Michelin and Pirelli high-performance tires. Together with its technology partner SACHS BRABUS custom-developed a comfortable sport suspension with gas-pressure shocks, sport springs and custom sway bars for the new C V8 S. The BRABUS C V8 S also comes equipped with six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 355-mm vented and cross-drilled discs on the front axle, and 300-mm discs with four-piston aluminum fixed calipers in the rear. This high-performance brake system was calibrated to work with the standard driving-dynamics systems ABS, ASR and ESP. Even under extreme braking stress these brakes guarantee maximum endurance and stopping power. The interior of the BRABUS C V8 S exudes an especially exclusive ambiance with its soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather. For safe vehicle operation the high-performance machine comes with an ergonomically shaped BRABUS sport steering wheel. The sporty character is further reinforced with polished BRABUS aluminum parts such as foot pedals and shift knob.
