C class 2015 us version Apple car play
Hi All,
I recently got my first benz, a 2015 C 300 AWD sports line. I am in love with the car specially that it is very well equipped however i want to know how should i connect my iphone via apple play ? the guy at the dealership told me that a certain cable needs to be purchased but i think he is wrong and i think there must be some sort of software update. any one has any idea ?

I could be wrong about this, but I don't believe the 2015 C has the software for Apple Play. I think I read somewhere, the 2016's may. If your dealership couldn't provide a definitive answer, call MBMUSA directly.

2015 C300 RWD
My dealer reported that 2017 or later for the C, will likely show on newer builds before then...W213? MB and Apple kinda got out of bed with each other, and not to steer the discussion to crap, but Apple products' reliability and integration of software isn't improving (being kind). Was told don't expect it to be firmware upgrade either, it may arrive tough as a kit, as they have now for iphone (which isn't worth the dash breakdown, much less the cost in my opinion).

Not what you're saying about products and reliability. Never had a problem yet with any Apple product I own. Two iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 in this house and both flawless.

Car play is neat in concept, I'd have to see how each car manufacturer integrates the on board systems into it before I'd pay anything extra. I'm on Comand for car settings, climate control, agility much more than I am for GPS, maps or my music on ipod, which already integrates pretty well.

Consider yourself lucky. I was forced to use an iPad at work - what a disaster. The worst part is that it was mission critical.

I'm not lucky. I'm sorry you didn't have a great work experience with an iPad, but I've owned iPhone since the beginning and the same with iPad. Never had any issues with any of them. Nor has anyone I know had issues. Just about everyone in my office and just about ever friend I have, has iPhone and iPad. None with issues. But let's be clear, just because you had an issue (odd your work place would even choose the iPad as an enterprise device - it really wasn't designed for such duty) doesn't mean Apple products are inherently flawed.

BTW, I agree it should not be an enterprise device.

I didn't say they were flawed, only not perfect - just like any other tablet on the market. My company bought 12,000 iPads, and I have never met anyone at my company who has not had problems. It sounds like you are in disbelief. Check here for just a few of the many problems:

Nobody posting here seems to be an Apple basher, and can't find where anyone said it's flawed. It's well accepted among developers that the IOS systems stability has dropped over the last few generations. If you and your kids play tick tack toe on it and it doesn't crash, it doesn't mean it's ready for prime time with carplay or as stable as previous Apple developments.
Here's a link for the issues they admit to that they have fixed as pointed out by developers so far. IOS9 coming soon, so I doubt more fixes coming. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1758?locale=en_US
Hop on the forums for developers of the programs, and they're candid how the product has to have more profitability, thus less in build and development.
I'm sure carplay not coming isn't just in bugs, but figuring out finances, aka, how MB and Apple both make what they feel is their fair share of $$ off of the end users.

Statistically insignificant. If you don't have friends who have had a problem, then you just don't have many friends. All the devices have some bugs. Lately, the manufacturers have put emphasis on getting products out for rapid profit, and less in development. The 2015 C class itself an example of that with it's teething problems in some of their factories.

You might be right, you're not lucky, as it's starting to sound like you got dropped on your head a few too many times as a child.

But Wow.....I got dropped on my head as a child too many times?
That's just completely rude. No need to write back. You're on my ignore list.

I'm sure there's a lot of truth in what you wrote. I'm not exactly uninformed about iPad's and iPhone's though. But this topic doesn't need to continue. The question was asked and answered. There is no Apple Car Play on the 2015 C Class.

The President of Blackberry scoffed at the iPhone when it came out. And he did so publicly. I'm betting he wishes he'd taken a different position today.
