Want to wire 5v camera to fuse box...
I got a good camera at a great price and had planned on running the wire to the fuse box next to the passenger side door. The camera, however, uses a 5v mini usb plug and has the standard type 12v car plug to get power from the car. I currently run the wire down to the dash and plug it into the 12v supply in the center console, but don't like that I have to keep that little door open to plug in the power supply (I love the way it looks when closed).
Now, I know there must be a 5v power supply somewhere, since we have usb plugs in the car. Does anyone know where the 5v supply and/or fuses are located? Also, is it okay to tap into one of 'em to power my camera?
Thanks for any advice.

Not sure if this will help you since he doesn't use the passenger fusebox but the one in the trunk
However he does mention som of the extra connectors he uses for permanent installation.
I had the same dilemma as you and didn't want the center console "door" being open. I didn't want to mess with fusebox, so I took the usb cable all the way to the trunk since I have a 12v outlet there as well.

There's a thread on here about wiring up a blackvue dashcam, which I used as instructions for wiring mine. We used the fusebox in the trunk but if you don't want to do that there is a fuse layout drawing in the trunk tucked inside that fusebox under the carpet. If you grab that it will show you where everything is. I believe that are fuse panels on the passenger and drivers side.

Thank you. I watched that a while back and guess I didn't realize he had used a 5v power point to set it up. Will look at it again.
I also didn't realize there was a switched 12v power point in the trunk. (where's the 'embarrassed' emoticon?)

Oh I never would have thought to look in the trunk either but since there's no spare tire they crammed a fuse box in there under the carpet. Lift up the trunk liner and to the right of the little storage well there's a piece of carpet with a thumbhole that you can lift right up. The fusebox is under it.

Oh I misunderstood. You want to wire it to the USB power source that goes to the center console. Chances are you will not find that in the fusebox. It's probably directly from a converter that's in the stereo system. You can double check me but i'd highly doubt they ran it as a fused circuit.

Another option is to put this camera in my W204 and get a 12v camera for the W205.
