Did anyone else notice that Mercedes is charging $1,100 for an Acoustic Comfort Package on the new 2017 E-class?

Go to the MBUSA website and choose the build your own option for the E300. On the bottom of the Entertainment & Convenience page you'll see the option box.

"A suite of upgrades throughout the body and cabin make riding in the E-Class even more serene. The windshield and front door windows are all laminated with an acoustic membrane. The windshield and rear window are also infrared-absorbing, helping to block outside noise and the sun's harsh rays. Higher-density rear-cabin carpeting, plus thicker insulation in the doors, rear shelf, and key body and interior locations, further quiet the cabin."

When I first saw that I immediately thought about this post on the C-class forum.

Acoustic glass arrived from Germany to Sydney today. Car booked in for 3 days in 2 weeks. I have the choice of a B class or a GLA as a loaner

Hello!
Is there a way to know part #205-725-23-00 and # 205-725-18-00 are acoustic glass?

In the following link SIDE WINDOW PANE - MERCEDES-BENZ (205-725-23-00) they don't mention anything about acoustic properties, i'm afraid there are the same regular windows already installed.

Best regards!

Those part numbers are for the acoustic glass. The normal windows are 205-725-15-00 and 205-725-16-00

They are absolutely the acoustic glass part numbers. My glass was replaced with acoustic glass and those are the same part numbers. You'll be able to confirm visually when you get the car back.

It took me 2 hours when they replaced the side windows for me. Easy job said the technician.

Here are the markings on the acoustic glass. I think the "X1" is the designator that the glass is acoustic. You can also clearly see the window has the acoustic laminate by looking along the edge.

How long did you have to wait for the glass to arrive?

Ive been waiting since july 20 and have been told theres no acoustic glass in stock in Germany.

Anyone have an idea of the inventory and acceptable time frame?

Got my acoustic glass two days ago. They did it in 24 hours.

The creaking in the seat which was constant has also stopped. It feels much former IB my back so I suspect it's been filled with something.

its the inverse N under the Pilkington symbol that denotes noise suppression glass

My old, standard glass, also had The N under the symbol. Only the X1 was new.

My car has the N on the windshield and front door glass but no N on the rear door glass etc. I'm sure I'd read the N was acoustic.

Does everyone has this on front and rear seat glass, or only the front? My REAR seats is where the noise is worst, I hear it from the front and the REAR glass doesn't have the X1 designations.

Interested to know if the acoustic glass has completely resolved the wind noise issue?

It is noticeably more quiet. My passengers no longer try to close their window thinking it was partially open due to wind noise.

Is the wind noise problem strictly on 2015 models or 2016 as well?

I don't think I have acoustic glass on the 2016.

My car was built march 2016 and it has the wind issue.

I am finally booked for installment of acoustic glass in about a week.
