Official wind noice service bulletin

I recommend anyone without acoustic glass to get it, whether you think you have excessive wind noise or not. It will make your car quieter. Quieter is better. After hearing the difference, even if it weren't covered by the warranty, I would have paid to have acoustic glass installed.

My car is booked in to my local uK dealer next week. I just hope the relevant technical service bulletin is recognised by Mercedes-Benz UK.

Had rattling front windows. My local dealer installed acoustic glass which helped to kill the rattling issue (YAY!). However, now I got the aforementioned wind noise from the top of the driver's door. My friends and colleagues have been very "impressed" with the MB quality.
My dealer pretty much gave up and simply shrugs and smiles at me every time I bring this problem up...

The key is to say you driving fast on the highway and you could hear wind through the windows. They'll immediately know what you mean.

After I've been on the road for more than 3000 kilometers the last two weeks, mostly in the backseat of my car, I can tell that the wind noise is as bad in the back as in the front.
I am assuming this bulletin is for front windows only, but is it really limited to the front? Why would noise in the back seat be more tolerated than in the front?

I agree - in many ways I find the back even noisier than the front because you get a lot of noise intrusion from the rear wheels. Unfortunately there's no acoustic glass available for the back windows.

Hi all,
I'm based in Los Angeles and Orange County. Does anyone have an actual TSB in pdf that highlights the issue with the code/number, and the corresponding numbers for the front windows - I'd like to bring it to my dealer.
Thanks,
Samy

While front door acoustic glass has made a good difference in my car there is still notable noise at 70mph+ . I'd like to know the source.

After getting mine replaced I am noticing more wind noise. Heard it yesterday doing 110Km/h. Will try again tomorrow night and see if it reappears.

Seems like most of you guys are getting acoustic glass with no issue.
I brought mine to the dealer, and they only fixed the alignment and seals. Appearently my car has poor alignment as well.
They said the bulletin said if theres improvement after getting alignment and seals fixed, no need to put acoustic glass. The adviser suggested me to drive for a month or two, if the noise is still bothering me, they will try to get the acoustic glass for me.
(btw I dont think the improvement is significant after the re-alignment and seal fixing)

The first time test driver told me it was how the car is designed for and saying that people online don't know what are they talking about (which is BS)
and they didn't fix any thing.
The second time I brought the bulletin number with me.

yep, you better avoid the Boundary one since this was my second time bringing this issue to the dealer.

Search seems to be a dying art these days.

I have not had any unusual wind noise issues with my car, but can hear some in heavy crosswinds. I also find the interior noise level somewhat higher than what I would have expected in a Mercedes.
I just had my car in for some minor service issues, including the navigation update to the 2016 maps, and mentioned that I thought the interior noise level was too high. They offered to do the acoustic glass swap under warranty. I just got the car back yesterday and took it out to see what difference it made. I'll note that my 2016 C300 loaner did have the acoustic glass, and I really did not think it was any quieter than my own car.
I now have not only the acoustic glass front windows, but also new felt insulation on all doors. The work order lists 2 side window panes, and 2 rear door insulation kits, but all doors now have the felt installed. The bulletin is listed as LI72.10-P-062500.
So, is the car quieter now? Yes, I'd have to say it is. It's not exactly like sitting in a bank vault, but there is a lower level of outside noise and no trace of outside wind noise at all. I drove through a heavy rain storm, and even then the car seemed fairly quiet. I'll have to do more high speed driving to really reach any firm conclusions but, at this point, I'd have to say that the combination of acoustic glass and the felt insulation has definitely improved the interior noise to a very acceptable level. My dealer was great, and never questioned the need to install the sound kit.

I finally got the acoustic glass installed. It makes quite a bit of a difference regarding the wind noise through the windows. There are still wind noise coming from other parts of the car as they only did the windows.
@StanNH, Do you have any more info about the 2 rear door insulation kits? I am assuming that's not part of the acoustic glass fitment.

After another day in the car, I can say it is definitely quieter now ... even less outside noise than I heard with my 2016 loaner.

I'm guessting the bulletin might have been updated since i first mentioned the wind noise to my dealer, 2 months ago, and my dealer didn't look into it more recently.
What year is your car that got this added? I wonder if there's different insulation for different years.
