Also, check infrared pickup on passenger door vs drivers door, if both work from same distance it maybe there is no problem with infrared pickup ..then only your radio pickup is at fault

Yes if you have another OCP its good!...just make sure the sticker on back shows same frequency in MHz

I cannot recall exact wording but In SDS you should be able to select - Body Control Modules>OCP>radio actuations. it will change state as you lock/unlock.

I don't know how the signal gets from the antenna amp to the OCP, I will do some more homework. If it goes via the AM/FM stereo to OCP than yes you could loose RF remote control when changing to aftermarket AM/FM radio but I need to confirm this...maybe this is why my system now works with donor CLk55 radio installed.

In the mean time here is some good reading for other things that can cause this - https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ay-lock-u.html

side question: since my car is a 1998, I have to get a radio that's 1998 or older right? A newer one from a 99-2000 will not work at all?

I just checked by removing the antenna coaxial at the FM/AM radio, it made no difference my RF still worked fine.

Zayed, when you install OCP make sure you disconnect/reconnect battery,my RF would not work until I did this

Looks like the antenna is shown above the front wind screen, shown as "A" in this picture...

Good luck Zayed!.

Sulaco, I checked epc and there is 20 different part numbers for radio's in the 202033 from 98 - 00 they will be country and brand specific. I used the clk55's audio30 in mine because I thought it was necessary for multifunction controls when I installed CAN to it from cluster,it looks same as the my C43's original Audio30 but has no button to remove the button controls on the left, also cct boards inside are slightly different and as I found the LCD displays are not interchangeable even though they look identical(clk one has a line of pixels out)
All works fine for me so I cant see why same system from later years cannot work, you would want to make sure you are replacing with same style system or at least make sure your speakers or amp are compatible.

Regards,

That's good news Zayed,I will clean mine also now

Is RF(radio frequency) still not working?. if so best bet would be to use SDS and check RF actuations.

Paul,

I tried to access Body Control Modules>OCP>radio actuations, unfortunate, no radio in the list,

i think radio FR is a part of ME2.8 or something..!-!

Sure np

Whilst viewing you can press remote locking button on key and the indication will change to:

This will indicate key radio is working correctly =)

If no change happens and indication stays on "0" or goes to "F" there will be a fault somewhere.

cheers,

Zayed,

This is good news!, maybe your fault is elsewhere then?.

I have started a thread on Interior CAN bus, but maybe it is linked to problems you have also?.
