Key Infrared

!, is something happening with infrared receiver, any clue guys..
?i'm not that good with interiors..

ZAYED,,
i heard once that if you point the infrared key to your head and press lock/unlock button you can improve distance, this might work?
your head will work like a transmitter, i have never tried it.

I think good quality aftermarket is good idea, but i should to use original key for starting, and aftermarket for open/close doors,
is that seems right...?!?

can't say, zayed! I know my silver car's old key had bad range, but the new key has much more

dealer here needs more than $500, i don't see i's worth it, isn't..!?!,
if i can get aftermarket for only open/close, i will chime in,,
i think infrared receiver has connecting with vacuum pump for opening/closing only, anyone can confirm that..!

I am currently chasing same fault but it's intermittent making it hard work..
DAS3 use's Radio frequency and Infrared combo,if only working at close proximity you have radio pickup problem maybe antenna, anntena amp or N70 overhead control panel??
I believe faults on CAN B system can also make trouble with the locking system, front door modules DCM1/2 recieve your infrared signal and when rear door moduals DCM3/4 fail they can cause CAN problems on DCM1/2 which cause intermittent failures of key access...
Later this may help you - http://www.mercedestechstore.com/pdf...2010-28-02.pdf

Excellent info.Thankss.
i think your right, CAN need to be followed to see what could interrupt EIS>>infrared, i heard one member owned W210, got the same a problem with CAN bus DAS3 either,,
im not that good expert of CAN system management...
ZAYED,,
Sure no problem,I think any faulty module on same CAN system can interfere and cause bad data. common fault like this is when driver side window no longer works but disconnecting battery fixes for a while, maybe try disconnect battery and see if this helps?, also remove your OCP and make sure all plugs are pushed in well.
I might have learn't something new today CLk55 key uses different radio-Hz in OCP,so my c43 OCP does not pick up clk55 radio frequency. on the back of my 99 c43 OCP there is a sticker showing 433Hz,00 clk55 has 315hz =).when I swap back to C43 EIS and key the longer range locking works again. MB has plenty of tricks

As far as I know key radio signal is recieved via vehicle radio antenna > antenna amp>overhead contol panel (OCP)>EIS.
OCP
I dont think any signal goes via audio player FM/AM radio, but I am suspesious because when I purchased my c43 the remote only worked close proximity, after i install clk55 ignition it's still the same but now I change back to c43 eis, ecm, steering lock and now long range key works
, only thing different from before is I have clk55 FM/AM radio installed
only rear windows still not working from EIS coding. When I tried it earlier the clk55 OCP did not work, maybe I did not plug in correctly.
Edit - Looks like frequency changed with newer style key, newer style keys must be set up with older frequency when being replaced on the 202?.

Maybe try disconnect/reconnect OCP in case plugs are loose,if still not working you really need SDS to look at OCP and see if radio signal is received, also can check DCM1/2 module to see if infrared received etc. maybe its time to buy Chinese SDS?

If you have a spare OCP from same era 202 you could swap to test?..
Does your FM/AM radio/stereo have good reception?..
