Wheel Choices?
So my garage was broken into a few nights ago during a wind storm. Thieves made off with thousands in wheels, tires, tools, bikes and parts. Insurance is covering everything and I'm trying to decide which 19" or 18" wheels to go with. Is the ride quality going to suffer much with 19" wheels? I'm partial to the Brabus Mono IV's one piece but am open to suggestions. Any input/advice is greatly appreciated. Thx

12' W204 C63 AMG coupe "T-Rex", 12' W451 Smart Fortwo Pulse (99' W202 C43 AMG sold)
Going from 17" to 18" the ride became harsher, so I can imagine that going to 19" will become worse. There are some 19" around but not many. I would be more worried in the difference in weight, not unless u choose some super light wheels.

Thanks for the input guys! You've convinced me to stick with 18's as I don't want a harsh ride or added weight. Anyone know the style, width and offset of these AMG rims? Will they fit a C43? I really like the deep dish look on the rears. Thanks!

Having run 2 sets of 19" on the W202 ...Stick with 18" max man, 19" is all negatives - increased weight, larger rolling diameter, less gas milage, much more likely to rub, stiff tire wall/stretch flex can give poor grip also.
you really feel the performance loss with 19".
Go with lightest best looking 18"

Ugh, would love those deep dish, but they are totally not available anymore. You could scour craigslist and ebay (save searches on ebay), and wait for a set to pop up. Also check other boards like stanceworks, but it'll definitely be difficult to find those, particularly deep dish replica. I've spent countless nights looking. Any rim from the c43 era is going to be a heavy rim, particularly any AMG rim. You will have way more luck finding those three piece rims over those AMG reps.
Seems like it's down right now, but http://www.wheelweights.net/ has a ton of info on rim weights. The lightest rims are usually the most expensive and not in the c43 era style. A lot of people will also say that rim weight is not as important as tire weight, I couldn't really tell you.

definitely go 18"
there are not many sizes that work well on this car without rubbing issues due to the staggered size needing the right offsets. i think when i was wheel shopping there was literally only about 20 wheels available that fit properly.
if you go custom or 3 piece wheels there are many other options bur your talking $2000+ before tires.
I went with TSW, they have a pretty good selection of wheels in the proper size for our cars and are a respected wheel manufacturer.
18" monoblock II are the best wheels for this car in terms of looks, but i didnt want my car to be a clone of everyone elses so i got the TSW Rockingham.
my opinion: if you dont do monoblock II, get something that shows off the front calipers. i get so many comments about the big brakes now that you can actually see them :-)

Thx everyone for all the input and advice. I'll stick with 18's and keep searching for a wheel style that catches my eye. As far as my Mono's are concerned, I'll definitely be hanging on to them and have no intentions of selling them.
Cheers
