The guy that tuned my car is a genius! He is a freelance tuner I met a few years ago. He has worked for some big named race teams as well as rally teams. Unfortunately he retired last year and emergrated to Portugal.

He deleted the torque limiter in the 1st two gears in order to get this figure. We checked with Brabus if the 722.6 transmission could handle the torque before going ahead. Brabus said that 600lbs was possible although a rebuild would be necessary.

He wanted to push the limits but couldn't access the older EG51 TCU program. Unlike the newer EG52 it is not programmable without writing completely new commands which would have been very costly and time consuming. Our cars are very technical and both TCU and ECU talk to eachother before certain actions are carried out such as gear changes and shift points. Which reminds me, he raised my redline to 6500.
!!!
Wow that's incredible. So did you end up rebuilding the trans or not? That's pretty close, about 575 ft/lbs at the crank with 15% loss. Holy crap, out of an NA 5.4l too. I agree, I want your tuner! That's an incredible number

Ha ha ha!... Thanks Sick430 and nd4spd!

It did take a bit of work to get that output!

If you notice I'm running water/meth injection. I need that so as not to blow my engine!

My tuner worked out this was a cost effective way to gain more air charge and detonation without opening the engine and changing internals.

As for my transmission I did have someone look at it. My friction plates were ok and the internals passed inspection. The person that looked at it specialises in custom transmissions. We decided that a strip and rebuild would prove costly. A Mercedes van transmission was recommended as the casing is the same as the 722.6. From there I could custom build whatever specs I wanted.

I ended up swapping my prop shaft for the AMG one (it has 4 fingers while the 430 has 3) I also went with changing the trans board, oil and seals for now. If the gears begin to slip then that will be my next step...

So far everything has held together although a Quaife diff would be nice to help get the power down instead of wheelspin!

Thanks

Yeah, all 55K's using the same air box E/G/S/SL/CL,

M112K's using a differ air box., but in generally; M112K's & M113K's air box can be used in N/A M112's & M113's with a little mods.

has anyone ever dynoed and noticed differences....? (and took notes)

also is there somewhere something to be read on differences on cams?

its said they are different but has anyone ever measured them and took notes? i dont read specs anywhere.

really really curious as what gains can be got by changing oem stuff from newer engines.. like as as said before airboxes and cams..

The way the stock C43 air box is made, the box with the filters inside sit right over the top of the intake manifold which get very hot so imagine where that heat is going. The SL intake boxes are actually running against the side of the manifold which would appear to be more effective in terms of feeding the motor cooler intake air.

Sure bro.,

This is all i done:-

1) Engine swapped from 4.3L to 5.4L, with-out change the ECU, with-out ECU tune,,

2) Installed Kleemann Cams,,

3) Installed Kleemann Headers,,

4) Installed "Evo-sport" UD pulleys, with phenolic spacers,,

5) Replaced the Injectors from stock (217cc) to (283cc) from "C55/CLK55/SLK55",,

6) Replaced the Ignition Wires from stock "Bosch" to "Magecor KV85 ",,

7) Switched the tranny from "722.631 A580Nm", to the one from (S/SL600/65 Bi-Turbo),, which is "722.649 A900Nm"

8) SLK55 Engine Oil Cooler,,

9) Power Steering Oil Cooler,,

When my application was installed there wasn't a system for N/A (AEM make one now).

We removed the programmable box for an F/I unit and inserted a simple pressure switch. Of course it isn't that simple and dyno runs have to be made to get the precise amount of cocktail and injection nozzle needed. I also installed a separate on/off switch next to the steering wheel and an indicator light to light up when the cocktail is being pumped into the engine.

I'm running a 60% weight in meth Vs water as water is heavier (most use 50:50). I find this together with my tune agrees well with my car.

Other than my mods stated I haven't done anything else. These M113 units are quite tough!

You can readily pick one up now and so if anything breaks I have a base reference and can modify accordingly!

Couple more of my engine bay.

I've moved my radiator over a bit to enlarge the access area for air. I'm in the process of enlarging the piping to the air mass. Currently I'm looking at a vortex effect with 4in filter and pipe, coning down to 3.5in at the air mass. The DEI gold wrap heat resistant works well.

I thought about the SL conversion, but this should get just as much air in!

How did the intake mod effect your exhaust note?

Hey PJmak,

The intake mods have made it sound more urgent/angry slightly louder...

I love the sound it makes as the cams kick in around 3000rpm... Muscle car V8!

I want the more urgent sound from my ride. I dont really like the lazy feel of it.

Would you say it would be much different with stock cams? Was the sound improvement mostly coming from the intake setup?

With stock cams you will not get that muscle car sound, but your overall tone will be improved... If you have a performance exhaust all the better as your car breathing better is where this comes from, as if it's cleared its throat!

Thankyou!..

For the EGR delete I think the tech just blanked it off with a plate or screw.. No codes were thrown.

At the same time I had my manifold opened and intake runners cleaned... Wow! The amount of crap in there I was surprised my butterfly valve still worked!

Thanks, I have a spare intake manifold from my 430 is it was the same as the one in the 55 I bought had AMG stamped on it and everything.

Did you upgrade the fuel pump? and if so to which one? I am still running the stock but want to upgrade it.

Thanks

Did you eliminate your windshield fluid bottled some how bend the AC line to make it fit? And how did the end of the intake hoses(I'm assuming sl55 plastic hoses) go to the grill ,if you have any pics of that it would be helpful.

Hey, no i didn't have to move anything! I look at photos of your bay and they seem the same. It will fit without modifying! I will grab pictures later today.

Hi sick430

I didn't upgrade the fuel pump as it's sufficient. I don't think fuel starvation will be a problem on N/A cars. A few of the guys running big hp with chargers have upgraded the injectors 1st..

Yes, the manifold for both the 430s and 55s are the same..

How do you have an E55 transmission in a C43? My understanding was that the computers were not compatible with other transmissions, and could cause drivability issues, if not that it wouldn't work at all?

Anyone else ever done this swap?
