Another head bolt failure
Friend's 2009 c63 went into the shop last week after ingesting 3 full reservoir tanks of coolant. Turns out it was the head bolt problem.
After about a week of repair, MB dealer says that they have a timing issue and have to put on the OEM pulleys. Right now, my friend has aftermarket pulleys and a ecu tune car is at about 39,000 miles. Until they fix the timing issues, they wont release the car. Pulleys shouldn't affect timing, right?????
I have a 2010 e63 at 36k miles, now i'm worried.......

again what pulleys, the crankshaft? idler pulleys? or ??.
Timing is internal on these engines and chain driven under the valve covers so if there is a timing issue it would seem that the tech did not put the engine together properly. IMO

got latest info..
so he let evosport use his car to prototype their pulleys. in doing so, they just jammed the pulley on and cranked the bolt on to tighten the crank pulley which damaged the woodruff key.
mb fixed the headbolt under warranty stating that they have been seeing this problem and aware of it, but charged another $5000 + parts to change out the woodruff key. supposedly, they have to take the engine out..... my friend was tired of it all so he just said F it. and let MB dealer fix it.. still at the dealership. will keep you all posted.
sorry no pix. this is in the LA area.

my friend is. supposedly that's the cost to fix the woodruff key. which supposedly entails removing the engine from the car to do...
