Yet another 507 has landed...
So my car buying process for once, was supposed to be a relaxed affair. Order what I want, then wait for the fun. If you want a c63 507 edition sedan now or three weeks ago, you need to move...
I was dealing with 4 different dealers all across the country, trying to square away a deal. As luck would have it on a whim, I made a call to my local dealer, who in turn made some calls and secured a car as close to what I wanted, but with much extra that I didn't. While I was deciding the other deals evaporated as cars got snapped up so I pulled the trigger. As Henry Ford said "you can have any color as long as it is black" My dealer had to trade away two cars to get mine...
So here is what I wound up with:
Obsidian Black, Sedan, Gunmetal Wheels
P61 Edition 507
068 Wheel Locking bolts
120 AMG Illuminated Door Sills
230 PARKTRONIC with Parking Guidance
290 Black Nappa Leather Package: Black
293 Rear Side Airbags
319 Lighting Package
320 Multimedia Package
471 Limited Slip Differential Lock
785 19" AMG Twin-Spoke Multipiece Alloy Wheel
889 KEYLESS-GO
997 Driver Assistance Package: DISTRONIC
I put all of that because my car that I would have ordered would have had about 1/3 of that - P61,319,320,471,889 and that is it.
Anyway it is what it is...
So some initial observations: The car is a beast, its loud, idles rough, ride is firm, acceleration is brutal, makes popping noises on downshifts...in short I love it. This thing literally makes kids scurry on to the sidewalks when it comes through. Even during break-in the traction control light is always on...it reminds me of my 1969 Dodge Charger with a 440/6 Pack but with leather, 4 doors and Sat nav and just a touch faster
Anyway - it is very well executed and I have had my fair share of well executed cars. It is also very tossable, my M5 was not like that which translates into a high horsepower cruiser, but not a fun driver.
I am actually glad it has some of the safety assist features on it as it will help to keep me out of trouble...hopefully.
As for the stripe I left it on - for now. Most people don't even notice it unless you point it out and it does discern a 507 from the rest of the herd.
Sorry for my thumb in the pics, I just got done driving it home and was a little...um scared.

I feel like a CF rear diffuser should come standard in the 507; even so for the BS. That plastic looks off putting.
But congratulations on the pick up! That's quite the options you have there!

Congrats!! Hey, finally glad you got it. I remember coming over from my 911.
You will absolutely enjoy it. Even if you've had a C63 before, this is much more refined and raw at the same time.
Quite a list of options there!!

Yup - was there last weekend for the "christening" ...I am there almost every weekend my 3 boys would not let a Saturday go by without it...if there weather is good should be there this weekend also.
Yeah the radar detector thing is a bit of an issue - I been pretty lucky thus far in other cars, this one might be tough though.

Okay, I see.
There are some that get hard-mounted that I know are very hard to detect. Sensors are mounted to the front bumper and the mechanism is mounted just under the steering wheel or somewhere easily reachable to mute the tones. A lot of them have detection for X, K, and Y. Radar and laser should be detectable and some even scramble.
But I do agree, it is very hard to have and own a C63 without getting into some trouble here and there. I have had my fair share of run-ins with officers.
