From what I have read .. it seems that you will be cutting too close with the rears at 38ET ... but you "might " be fine pending if the car is lowered and what size tire you use , remember stock is 9.5 wide with a 43mm offset

I don't think that you will like the way the back wheels fit, they will stick out.

Do you plan to lower your CL ????

There are the wheel sizes / off sets that I know work on my CL600 and would be the same for CL500 / CL55 even when lowered....

8.5" et35 / 9.5" et35 (current set up)

9" et40 / 10" et45 (past set)

9" et40 / 10.5" et44 (some day set)

Also these are good site to use

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/inf.../mercedes-benz

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...&Submit=Submit

Hope this helps

A stock CL55 wheel is 8.5" +44 on the front and the rear is 9" +44. I don't know where you are getting the 9.5" rears from. Yes the CL65 runs 9.5" rears but has a offset of +60.

to my knowledge there are no OEM 9" wide rear wheels on any W215 , at least the ones with AMG package they are in fact 9.5 .. and certainly not one with a 60mm offsets .. 8.5 Fronts with 9.5 rears both 43mm ET is the stock .

So are you saying my owners manual for my CL65 is incorrect? The CL65 runs 9.5" wheels on the rear with a +60 offset. That is a fact.

The rear rim will fit BUT, you will have to run a 275 so it stretches a bit giving you a bit more clearance. You are 3mm more aggressive than 1995E320CAB and his setup. Same applys to the front.

^^Those will look good. Run a 245 up front and a 275 out back. That should give you enough stretch so they won't rub. Worst case you will need to do a minor roll of your fenders. Post up the pics once you have them installed.

+1 on all of this, tell Jeff hello for me, we used to talk when I have my W124 E500, he has one of the lowest mile cleanest ones around. He's a good seller also.

W215 CL55 stock rear wheel:

2003+ 9.0" rear wheel with 265/40/18 tires 46mm offset (and 245/45/18 with 44mm front)

Pre-2003 9.5" rear wheel with 275/40/18

The CL65 does have 9.5" rear wheel with higher offset (60mm) so it's harder to have as wide rims as the CL55 would have.

I have 10" wide on my CL55 with 40mm offset and it does rub when hitting bumps. I think the 42mm would have been perfect for me.

That is the problem with buying used wheels. The offsets will work but the caliper clearance won't sometimes. Most companies make generic disks that fit 99.99% of the cars. That's why I don't buy wheels from companies like that (that statement includes all of these "forged" companies). I only buy high end quality engineered wheels. I'm a wheel guy and now I'm at my final stages of picking out a wheel but it might take 5-7months for it to me manufactered to my specs, not 2-4 weeks like the other companies. My suggestion is to sell them and start again.

That is an incorrect statement. The wheel wells are the same size be it a cl55 or cl65. The difference is in the drive shaft lengths. I can put the exact same size wheel back there but the only difference will be "OFFSET" of the wheels.

The thing is widths/ offsets / tire size are all good ... one thing is very very hard to predict is the actual design of the wheel , thickness of the Pad where it meets the hub , and the curvature of the spokes ( clearance for brakes ) ... of course custom setup / order is best , next is being in the shop trying on the wheels with no tires first ..check clearances , measure , alter size of tires if you have to then mount tires and try again .
Sorry that the wheels didnt fit you right, I woudlnt go with spacers or the lesser offsets as you stated as the lower offsets or spacers will bring the wheels out more away from the car guarranteed rubbing when lowered.
