Intercooler Pump Bleeding

Hello all

I got the updated Bosch intercooler pump installed on my CL65 (w215). Does anyone know how I can bleed the system ? I see that there is one service type valve beside each each intercooler. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks

I meant to say that I seen the system below in one of the workshop manuals for MB but not sure if these can be bought? Or if there is a simpler DIY way of doing it?

Buy a regular cooling system vacuum filler / refiller / bleeder.

+1 Listen to Nick, he knows what he's talking about.

Short of modifying the system to allow bleeding the only way is a vacuum filler.

Thanks for the reply Nick. Is there any particular model/type you would recommend? I haven't done anything like this before so would it be simple enough to attach and operate?

Its a simple, generic, garage tool. I don't think there's much to choose between them for occasional use.

Thanks Nick

I will look about for one. Where would you suggest the best place to attach it on the CL65?

Okay guys sorry for being a pain and asking all these questions however I would appreciate your input given your experience.

I have read in a few places that when the service type nipple next to each cool charger is pushed in coolant should flow out - is this correct? I have just checked mine and nothing happens when I do this no fluid comes out ( the engine was cold when I checked this)

As Nick said I will get a universal cooling system vacuum bleeder. When I get this can someone tell me how I flush out the fluid currently in the cool chargers etc and do I just place the vacuum bleeder onto the filler neck next to the cool chargers?

Again sorry for all the questions but I will be new to this and one to make sure I do I correct

Thanks

With the engine cold and off you may not get any flow out of the valves on the intercolers. Try it with the pump running.

It just hooks to the filler neck. There should be instructions with the vacuum tool and you can probably find a few "how to" videos on You Tube.

Good luck. It's not hard to do, just keep researching like you are and you will be fine.

Either of the tools you posted links to should work.

Thanks for that Dr Matt. I will give it a go when the pump is running.

Do you know how to empty the fluid out if the cool charge system prior to refilling with the vacuum system?

I changed my pump and then vacuum filled the system without draining it. There was a large air pocket at my old pump so when I pulled it I only lost about a cup of coolant, obviously why my IATS were so bad. I just vacuum filled it after installing the new pump and put in almost 2 quarts.

Thanks Dr Matt. I assumed that you had to drain the system to do the vacuum. But if that's not the case I could do what you did and just do the vacuum and then refill via the vacuum until it's full. So am I correct in assuming that if I do the vacuum when I refill it would stop sucking up the coolant when the system is full.
