Help: CLK 430 ABS light on, car wont pass 4000RPM
Hi,
I'm new here, I just bought a CLK430 with 61.000km on it (32.000 miles), my car is not accelerating more than 4000rpm, the engine cut at this point. The ABS light is on, someone know where is located the ABS fuse? My box is in germany
Thank you,
Leco

CLK 430, SLK 230
Can't be sure what your problem is, but my SLK 230 once switched me into a "limp home" function that severely reduced the car's output because a serious problem was detected by the computer. I would think the CLK's have the same function. The "limp home" function only allows the car to be driven at about 15 mph, so the driver isn't stranded, but it won't allow the car to be driven at speeds, which if something went really wrong, could harm the driver or other drivers. The manufacturer expects that the car will be taken directly to an auto shop for repair. Perhaps the computer sensed your braking system wasn't working properly, so it switched the car into "limp home" mode. Pull the codes and see what errors have registered. That will be the best place to start if you want to try and fix the problem yourself.
Good luck!

Rob,
Thank you a lot. My car is going at normal speed, but won’t pass 4000rpm.
I went in a shop were the guy own the Mercedes diagnostic computer, he told me it’s a traction control module “communication with engine error”, also ABS communication error, and he could not reset this error, my traction control button is not working, I mean, when I push it it does not turn on or off. It’s off all the time, but the BAS and Traction control lights are both off in the panel, only ABS on.
Do you know where the ABS and Traction control fuses are located? The box instructions are in Germany language, I can’t understand.
Someone told me few modules just stop working when the car complete 10 years, then you should go to a dealer to reactivate the module, this is true?

It sounds like the car is in limp mode. This usually happens on CLKs when a drink is spilled of it gets wet around the shifter/cup holder area. This exact problem happened to me and I had to replace the board under the shifter. It only comes with a new shifter and it is $400. It was also a pretty tough job.

Gentlemen, it was something wrong inside the ABS module, a bad chip. The guy charged me 500 dollars to fix the module. I will pick up the car today, hope everything is working.
It's usual have problems with ABS module?

The car is amazing now.
Acctually it's pretty fast too, yesterday I went to a drive with a friend of mine who own a 2008 Subaru WRX hatch, with K&N filter and hi performance exhaust.
Rolling start from 40mph it was very close until 80mph, but after this, CLK just gone away from him, it was so much faster that was funny.
Amazing car indeed

hopeing for help clk 430 in limp mode
Hi I have a 2002 clk 430 stuck in limp mode. All the information here has been helpful I changed the conductor plate and still am stuck. The fuses look good my mechanic reviewed everything that he can think of. But still no luck, there was a speed sensor code I belive (or revelution sensor) cant remember what he said. Can anyone help me please? I just had the transmission rebuilt and am still having the same problem
