HELP!!! Shifter stuck in PARK
Drove car all day it was perfect, i then parked my benz in the drive way for 30minutes went back out to attempted to move it back a little bit to open the garage door...bammmm start up fine NO CEL(NO CODE) but it just wont shift out of PARK(P) unless i stick a pen in the secret hole(LOL). I read somewhere while searching it says brake switch but my brake light comes on when i step on it does it still matter? How much is a brake switch from the stealers? Hopefully they have it in stock. Is there anything esle i should be worry about or look at second after brakeswitch

Bas and esp
will occur whenever you disconnect the battery. You clear them by resetting the steering wheel angle sensor by starting the car and turning the steering wheel all the way left to all the way right and back again a few times to recenter the sensor.
If the battery is fully charged and the symptoms still are there the ignition trans lock is bad or the brake switch. However the brake switch usually shows malfunction lights..It is contained in the trans module. I have units if you are going to replace it.DIY is on www.benzworld.org w210 section.
Some members have just removed it but then the car can be started without stepping on the brakes which can cause an accident.
Why are you taking it to the dealer diy for brake switch on benzworld.org and if it is the shift module they will charge you 5 times the price of a used warrantied unit you install yourself.

Thanks for the info, im really hoping its just the BRAKE SWITCH(i had the warnings before ESP BAS ABS then turn off car started back up its goes away it happen 3times since i own the car for about a yr and half now)...i wasn't planning to take the car in for repair at the dealer(at least not yet lol) i was just removing the brake switch to get the part number and take the switch with me so i can make sure i have the right one. As for the shift module how much does the used one usually run for?

month ago, my brother was returning from Afghan. so I gave his car a look
over before he arrived. 00 E320 appeared to have slight dusty residue on
seat so i concluded something spilled. took in for detailing.
when i went to pick up the car, the guy pulled me aside and yadda yadda....
BAS, SRS or whatever lights were on, would not shift out of PARK unless we
did the ballpoint pen trick. was in limp mode. no gear display showing, or,
R showing on P mode, and other sporadic displays
i was quite pissed. it did not exhibit any ailing signs when i drove it to the
detailers, but I figured someone spilled something (probably sis in law who
wouldn't fess up).
i took apart as much as I could from the center console. lots of fans,
ventilation, hair dryer for hours. cleaned and wiped even though no
obvious signs of fluids
lucked out. next morning all symptoms disappeared. hope you have similar
luck !

Don't take
it apart. You can try and clean by spraying crc maf cleaner down into the pen hole and then doing what Ray did with a fan and cross your fingers.
If not I have them for sale delivered price,pm me.

what do you guys think?

A friend sent me the above link. i checked it out, - similar symptoms .i e. When the shifter is moved from “P” to “R” or “N” to “D”, there is a huge clunk. so i am thinking electric emergency running mode. Where can i get these codes cleared other than the dealer? (my "HF" bought OBD scanner shows these two codes P0173 and P0170.)
Also any input on "MB Diagnostic Interface for Carsoft 7.4"?
Thanks again

Do you have
Give us all your symptoms please.
Are you stuck in park??
Can you shift it into gear etc?
If you have a big clunk going into reverse and into drive there may be more wrong than spilling something into the shifter.
a check engine light on? The two codes you have are most commonly caused by a failing Mass air sensor.
The other issue is a failed shifter unit from spilling liquid down it.
electronic limp mode only allows the car to drive in the 2nd gear and reverse to limit your speed when the system has a problem. you can still shift the shifter.
yours is locked up from either the detent that seperates the gears in shifting.
or something is bad inside it and if cleaning did not work it needs to be replaced.

gear shift stuck in park
[quote=raymond g-;3718437]shift unlock
I I did this but now what? My ABS ESP/BAS comes on after driving the car a few minutes. We did spill a little bit of water 2 days ago but can not get this gear shift unstuck. Also the "hole" will not close. This is the only way we are able to drive the car. Any suggestions?

You'll need to disassemble the shifter and dry everything out (rubbing alcohol and compressed air). Driving it more with water in there will continue to do damage. Hopefully it's not permanently damaged or you're looking at a $1k repair.
ABS/ESP/BAS coming on sounds like a separate issue. Do you windows work ok? Can be bad battery or brake light switch.
