GL450 Navigation DVD
I know this has been asked before, but I cannot find an answer for it. I have 2007 GL450. I was wondering if someone here knows how to get the latest .iso and burn it to the DVD? I tried a few but no cigar. I get "Cannot read Navigation DVD", error. This is for North America Navigation by Alpine.
Is there a particular type of DVD you have to use? I am using DVD-R. Do I need DVD+R? Or a particular burning software? So far, I tried ISO Recorder, Imgburn, and Alcohol 120.
Thanks

Holy crap, lkchris and I agree on something!!
This is a bad place to be asking for advice on how to steal software. In public, no less.

FIrst of all, the iso I am trying to burn is the image of the DVD that came with the car. I made a copy of it to keep it in case I need to burn it (if the original goes missing, or goes bad). Guess what, the original seems to have stopped working. So I tried to burn the ISO image to see if I can make that work, but that is not working either. I was hoping that MB has ISO images that MB car owners can download and burn them if needed, or perhaps offer a way to download the latest images and burn them if they need them quickly even if it is paid.
I don't see why it is illegal to ask such a question. The question is simple, is it possible to make a backup of your own DVD and then burn it to the blank DVD if needed? And second question is how do you get the latest ISO even if I have to pay for it? I would rather have an ISO file which I can download and update quickly and easily rather than getting a new DVD every single time I need to update maps.
I think MB should offer an easier and quicker way to update these maps.

Use a "write once" DVD. I used a Maxell 4.7 GB DVD-R, and got it to work successfully. Burn it at the slowest setting possible. The drive is very picky, but it can be done.

Gl450 Navigation Issue
I sold my GL450 and the new owner is getting a similar error message :"Cannot read Navigation DVD". It was workign fine until yesterday. Two potential causes:
- My daughter deleted all destination addresses prior to sale (didn't notice any issues reading the disc)
- The iPhone connection has some loose wiring that may have caused a shortage
The new owner took it to MB dealership who put in a new disc and got the same error. They told him they have no idea what's wrong and wanted to sell him a new one for $4500!
Any one have any ideas how to fix this? Does he need to buy a new CD and reset the system somehow?

Sounds like your navi system had a newer firmware update and when the previous locations were deleted you lost the ability to read the old DVD.
I found this out the hard way. I updated my wife's r500 with the newer DVD from the gl, and put the older navi DVD back in the r. The r navi could only read or navigate to states there were stored in the history. When I put the new navi DVD, it all worked fine! Hope this helps.

I went to MB of Tucson this AM and found on my car, the Nav dvd goes in the first slot of the 6 cd multi-cd and it loads the software on a server in the vehicle and then is removed. The load can take up to 90 minutes. Since I can no longer find the nav dvd, I was forced to order another one. Instead of the $250+ from the dealer I ordered via ebay for $180. total. I hope it works. If not, an expensive lesson was learned.
