2017 GLE350 Temp Gauge
Just bought a 2017 GLE350. The temperature gauge needle is about 2/3 from the cold before hitting hot. Just wondering what is normal for the temperature gauge? Can you check the temp gauge needle on your GLE350 to see where it is at? Thanks

It's not hot, MB doesn't calibrate the gauges to sit "just below half" like every other manufacturer does. The normal range is 85-100*C, which can be well over half but is still very normal. Over 95C the fan will come on enough to keep it from passing over 100, unless you're in some very strange weather or there is something wrong.

The fan turn on point may be higher for your vehicle. In the search for ever increasing emissions, the vehicles have switched to electronic thermostats in order to run higher temps for more efficency.
If you aren't getting temperature warnings, it's probably normal. I would have to look at another 2017 with same engine to say what's exactly normal, but if it's getting hot you will hear the fan come on full blast first, then it will set overtemp messages.
The fans run on a digital controller, it comes on gradually to maintain temp, just a little bit. Are you sure it's not coming on ever? Or just you aren't hearing it so you think it's not on?

Hi All
i am new to the forum and I just picked up my 2018 GLE ysterday. It's my first German car so I still need sometime to get familiar with it. Just one quick question to you all. How do I read the coolant gauge without the number? I don't know what temperature it is at. I noticed the needle is above the half way point if you read it from C to H but it is around the half way mark if you read it from when the red ends to C. Does that make sense? It was easier to read with my RX350 it always sat in the middle and I don't think it had the buffer room after H where it was red. Anyways hope to hear from someone soon. Thank!
