2017 GLE 350 W4 operating temperature...
I would like to get feedback from owners of their city driving operating temperature on their GLE's. I just took mine out for a short drive tonight (have 140 miles on it) and went into vehicle dynamics window as my temperature guage was at 3/4 hot and temperature read 102 degrees Celsius. I called dealer & shop foreman said this was normal. I have a GL 450 that runs a lot cooler. Would love to hear actuals from other owners. Thanks!

19 E63s(wifeys) & a 21 GLE580
I mine stays in the 98-101 range even with hard driving in the summer if that helps but I have the 3.0L engine. I was surprised though at how little the temp moves while driving.

Thanks Bac
Thanks for the feedback BAC! I was concerned that something might be wrong & I cranked the heat up all the way & was only able to move temp down 2 degrees aftee running a while. The MB tech indicated due to higher emissions standards they now run about 15 degrees hotter. Not sure how the increased operating temp bodes for the lifespan of these engines?

Actually it will provided I get some knowledgable feedback. The vehicle runs 18% hotter than my '13 GL450 W4. I would like to better understand the engineering behind the operating temperature increase. Furthermore, I would like to know technically how long they have been doing this & whether they have done any long term testing to determine the impact upon engine life. HEAT extremes break things down and break things in general thus my CONCERN (not obsession). My seat issue on the other hand HAS risen to an obsession and the only way it will be temporary is if MB USA rectifies it!

I have no comment on your "seat issue".
You have spoken to your dealer shop foreman - and now from me - that your MB is in are normal operating temperature.
If that doesn't qualify as "knowledgeable" - then call MBUSA for all I care.
"Letting go" is up to you..

fabbrisd1- Thanks for your input. I was not implying that you are not knowledgable just that I like a little fact/scientific input rather than a "you are fine" response. Interestingly, and perhaps related to this is that I arrived home last night and had kid sleeping in backseat so I idled the vehicle for about ten minutes. When I shut off car, I grabbed a set of house keys in the bin just in front of ashtray (why do we still have?) / heated-cooled cupholders area towards front of car. The keys were burning hot! I then touched the surface and again burning hot! I'm a little worried this was smoking hot & I had not used the cupholder elements anytime close to this for those who may think it's that. My engine temp guage was again up there (not positive but I would guess 105 C)

As I have advised you in your "2nd/other thread" - if you have that "heat" concern - then I suggest you take it to the dealer.
When the cupholder is set to heat (or cool) the cup holder element activates when the a "cup" is inserted pressing down the cup-holder-arm which is the circuit switch.
Yes - it has a thermal and electric cutoff - that said I have seen people put metal vacuum-walled cups/bottles in there - with heat function activated - won't do a dang thing for their drink in their vac-insulated container - and yes - things will get hot..
But you need to get this looked at - it's your genuine concern
