Do smartkeys control memory seat?
I was told that if I hold a smartkey and my wife hold another one, whenever I use my key to unlock the door, the glk will auto adjust the seat to my last position according to my key. If later on my wife uses another key to unlock, it will auto change to her preset seat position, without pressing the memory 1,2,3 buttons.
I can't make it working...and I seem can't find it from the manual.
Does glk really have this function?
Also..i m so disappointed that the garage door opener function cannot learn the remote I used for my apartment gate.

I know, I know...however, I just test drove a VW Tiguan SEL 2 days before and had that technology. So I just assumed that MB did the same thing for their vehicles. Is that really hard to employ that technology? At least give the driver a choice to enable it.

I'm just glad my GLK has memory seats at all. My wife & I trade cars frequently and memory seats are a real must-have for us.
Having it on the key would be nice but not a deal-breaker.

Pretty lame my last pick up truck would do it but this doesn't. It also took me a few days to figure out you have to hold down the number until everything stops moving haha!

Yes, once again, the lawyers are protecting us from ourselves.
MY SLK55 AMG had the memory seats which changed position based on which key was used and it was a really convenient feature. Also, the BMWs that I've had required only a one-touch to the memory buttons rather than a constant, irritating hold-down. I which MB would get on board with these true convenient features on the GLK.

My wifes Lexus has one touch for seat position and mirrors. Are they afraid that you might touch it while you are driving or that you couldn't multi-task like push the button while pulling out of the garage? The Lexus has keyless entry and start and depending on which fob you have in your possession. When you grab the outside door handle to unlock the car the seat and mirrors move to that coded key. AND it's standard!

I understand that MB has a lot of other features that's better than the others. This is our first MB and our expectation were high considering the brand and the name of the company.
It's just a little disappointing that the "small stuff" that you expect are not quite up to par with the other manufacturer's standards.

is this a reprogramming thing? I was hoping the same thing as i had the memory function tied to my smart keys on my previous car as well. Also, I think there should be a way to make that stupid "hold" button to be 1 push button. On my previous car's 1 push button feature will automatically deactivate when you moved your shifter from the park position. You cannot also change and use that function while the car is moving which makes sense for safety. Also when the action is taking place and when you try to drive the car the movement stops. One thing for sure on my previous car I do not have the auto door lock function and the glk has it.
I think there is no reason why merc can't have that function on all of its lineup with a memory seat.

There are numerous things that MB doesn't include that I just don't get.
Among them:
A Toyota Camry has LED rear and side lights but my GLK has filament bulbs because the dealer did not have any cars with the Xenon option!
A Nissan Maxima will lower the windows if you hold down the door open button, a great feature if the car has been sitting in the sun!
There's no place to stash sunglasses! Yes, I can toss them into the center console but my Maui Jims..!
Oh well, I still like my GLK...

you can also roll down your windows using your remote, just hold the unlock button after you unlocked the doors and it will zip down. One thing for sure is that your camry doesn't have the auto close feature that the GLK has. To do that just lock your door then hold the lock button agian and see the windows and sunroof close. You can always change the filament bulbs to a LED cluster bulbs. It is just the same thing as factory LEDs except for the look but the nice things about those clustered LEDs is that you don't need to replace the entire light assembly when one of the LEDs goes out. The light start of the clustered LEDs and the factory LEDs are just the same which in reality if comparing them to the filament type bulb is like milliseconds faster to produce light.
Sunglasses is one thing but I don't worry too much about that as I have transition eyeglasses.

I'd rather it open them while I am still walking to the car so that it will have time to cool off a bit before I get there! Once I am near the door it is too late.

crap! i didn't see the glove box light! darn! well...the inside is not deep enough and I am not thinking of putting anything inside there except for the registration papers. you can always have a small flashlight on your car and that would do the trick.

I think that feature of the car not being able to roll down your windows if you are near it is a good thing. I had countless of times that my previous car gets wet inside because I accidentally sat on my fob and the window rolled down while it was raining outside and I only found out about it the next day and it was too late.
