I'm sure there is someone or some company that could remap the ECU to give it some extra oomph but remember this is a 6000+ lb automobile, it wasn't made for spirited driving.

My previous 2007 R350 gas had failed intake manifold. Got much more muscles once the piece was replaced.
I've read here, it is a common issue with these cars. Replacing spark plugs may help to gain back some agility if you never done it.
But frankly, it is a bit lazy to accelerate. My new turbo-diesel is much more agile.

4700 lbs, make it under 4900 with an average driver (alone).
Let's not exagerate.

little low... lets not underestimate either...

4841lbs for the R350, curb weight...

Pete's number is GVW or gross vehicle weight..

Basically, it is around 5,000lbs rolling down the road...

I agree. Curb weight is at rest and Gross weight is max capacity of the R weight with passengers and luggages. My 08 R350 show gross weight (GVWR) is 6601 LBS. So Peter S is right too.

How many of you haul 5 more adults on a regular basis?
Or how many of you r-class owners have 4 kids?

I do.... 4 kids that is...... Only one is on his own....

Point is.... with some stuff that rides with it and a person it is 2.5 tons rolling around...

Yea... topping 6k is few and far between... but I am sure it was damn close when I take it to South Carolina on vacation.....

Even dry it isn't 4,700lbs.....

I have 5 kids. 2 are teenagers. So we haul 7 people on a regular basis. My diesel is plenty peppy, but it's no sports car.
