Benz and Beemers
It will fit, but I think it will look ghetto. Also, to my knowledge, not many "NAME BRAND" whees come in a 22x8.5. Only low end garbage Velocity, Tyfun, Gio or F5 Rims come that size. If it was my vehicle, I would rather go with some 20" Staggered set up.

Wheels that you call "Name brand" are actually not so name brad as they are inexpensive that's why you know them so well . Folks who make larger wheels for Benz cars and other brands usually don't bother mixing their wheels in markets where wheels cost 175.00 a wheel. BTW. Velocity is a retailer not a wheel manufacturer.
That aside, there are plenty of very nice custom wheels out there in 22 for mercedes cars. Most of the wheels I have seen are on celebrity's cars not daily commuters and folks that worry about 5 or 6K for a set of wheels.
Butler tire in Atlanta is just one example of a very high ended wheel dealer with a lot of choices.
What is Ghetto are cheap looking wheels on a classy car no matter what the size.
BTW. Who owns the defining right to what is ghetto and what is not anywayz?
Does ghetto mean something is bad? what about these white suburban kids
( and their parents ) that have seemed to turn what we used to discard as ghetto into some knew hip way to act . Hmmm... I think we need to search for another point of reference here.
Anywayz back on the subject.
I've seem some NICE Benz cars sitting on 22" lorinzers and the like. BUT you just can;t be driving these cars back and forth to Wal-Mart... IT's just not the "thing to do". Therefore, I wont be going that route simply because I use my car for more than just a bi-weekend show.
NOT to sound like a total hypocrite... but there is just some things in life that you should not do. One of those things is that ( an I learned this from living in the "Ghetto") your car should never grossly overstate your place in this world. 22's for a benz only come one way. Flashy. If you live that way and its your thing, go for it. I don't so I won't.
That was a subliminal message to the original poster....

The only message I get from a S-class on 22s is "more dollars than sense." Whether you call it ghetto or not, it's done for a "look," at the expense of handling, ride and performance. Since those three things mean a lot to Mercedes engineers and most Mercedes buyers, the look is disrespectful to the marque.

Sorry for using the word Ghetto. I should have said IMO it looks stupid. And lorinser does not build 22" rims for the S-Class

If you are going to do 22's on a benz. the Law is Open Lug and at least a 1.5" lip and Wheels that compliment the car NOT make it look like some tricked out Honda. But those wheels are just tooo freaking big. Read my previous post.. YOu think this setup is good to drive every day? I think not.

I agree with you on some points MYCLK06 -- you made pretty good sense, however I dont think it doesnt look that bad at all. I definitely think open lug with a big lip (on the rear it does look like a pretty decent lip) as you said and definitely should be a 2 pc wheel. My personal taste is that white and chrome is such an elegant look its hard for me to not like the car. Besides it looks alot like mine -- how could I not like it?

So it looks more unique for the car instead of some common wheel that could be seen on anything.
Thats all I was saying about the other car.He keeps preaching brand name, but who wants a wheel that looks better on an Escalade?? And OMG are those things are screaming somebody please spare me some sidewall!!!

ok guys you are right, this is my daily driver, i want comfortable ride so im going to go with a staggered fitment 20x8.5 in front 1/2inch lip and 20x10 in rear with 4" inch lip in rear, in a Carlsson style rim, in chrome.

i think that's much better choice than 22s.
one thing for sure about 22s on the w220 would be the ride and it would look as nice compared to 20s.
besides, staggered > all

I have 3 piece now on my SL...but those one piece replicas are some of the best Ive seen due to the rear lip size. Saw them on Ebay but the seller wont disclose the maker....do you know the maker/brand?

I seen those rims plenty of times on ebay. I was looking at those before I bought my wheels. Either the same guy will repost those wheels again soon or you can go back on ebay and search for auctions that ended and look for those wheels and tell the guy that you want a set of those wheels. Be prepared for a good possibility of rubbing my dude!

s500 on 22
I think people over exagerate on a s500 on 22, i was debating on 20 staggered or 22. i decided to go 22 245/30 i had a e class and 20 were perfect but i think on s 500 20 are to small dont get me wrong 20 look nice as well but i prefer 22. i was scared about the ride so i decided to buy them and try it if i dont like i can switch to 20 stagered, so far not bad the ride feels the same on my e class with 20 the ride does change but not too much. i drive this car almost every other day.
