W220 Windsheild Wipers
My first post to write. I've reads hundreds of them (thanks to Skylaw for the starting point), they did help a lot, but now i need to solve a specific problem.
2002 S430 - W220 - 60k miles
Problem, Windsheild wiper won't work on any speed.
They started dying progressively, till they stopped working at all. I checked all fuses, relays, and the wiper motor itself. Checked fuses for zero resistance, check. Checked relays by hearing the clicks, and measuring resistance, check. I also checked relays by swapping, no luck. Checked the motor by resistance, voltage measurements, and by powering it up and seeing it work. I also bought a used one and swapped it, still no luck.
A little bit of history, 2 years ago, I had the problem of water intrusion in drivers side. I did make sure that the carpets are dry before i used the car, unfortunaetly, I did not take the seats carpet out to go deeper and dry any connections out. Everything on the car works, except the wipers and the wiper water pumps. One more thing, the front cigarette lighter works 50% of the time, I have a radar detector connected there, and it says low volt half of the time. I measured voltage there, and it measure 6V when the detector says low... The MB dealership later confirmed that. The last 2 things of errors are; 1) left turn signal (in the side mirror) - check lamp, 2) Low water in waher fluid tank ( I see it leaking at a rubber plug... (will try figure that out soon)
I took the car to an Independant, he said that there are several codes, most he cannot erase, and advised I go to MB dealership.
I took it to the dealership, They reported that they cannot communicate with the Front SAM (left), and that I have to replace the SAM with the fuse/relay box ($1400) so that they can start diagnosing it. I didn't proceed with that route. They also mentioned that the SAM is getting 12V, but there are output voltages at 6V on CIRC15. The dealership also mentioned that the rear view mirror is shorted, and needs replacement ($1300).
I checked on the junction fuse box in the rear, looks good to me, i also checked the resistance there, and they are ok.
I also checked the fuses at the junction box at the footwell of the passenger side, they are all good.
Measuring voltages at the wiper motor connections, the yellow is 12V, but the ground there is giving a voltage of around 1.5V... That makes me suspect a bad ground somewhere, but I'm unable to capture it.
Does anyone have any suggestions as where to start to get a hold of the problem?
P.S: I have a carsoft 7.4, which I do not get to receive much input from when I run it...

this is exactly what i have on my car
when i press the wipers while driving it doesn't work and the ABS & ESP light came on
then i tried to use the front cigarette lighter it didn't work also and Airmatic fault shown
i removed the cigarette lighter socket and didn't use the wipers from this point,
also the sunroof always stuck on tilt ,when its stuck only then the wipers work
so i have only one at a time working ( wipers or sunroof )
if i put the ignition switch in position 1 and press the wipers in it doesn't work and i hear a rapped clicking sound from the ignition switch

Well, Sabri, I'd start with confirming what the dealer said was wrong, and check the electrical connections associated with them. Look for signs of water damage. If you had a clogged cowl drain, water in the electrics can cause all sorts of weird things. For the mirror, had you tried removing it and seeing if there was anything obvious? It's hard to see how it's related to your problem, but to me Mercedes are still quite an odd mistress.

The dealership diagnosed it as a failed SAM.
And you "elected not to go that route"...because...?
And now, you think it's something else? Because....?

I apologize...Kimo - I would recommend that you get this hooked up to an XENTRY machine and see what it says. A good indy will have it, some guys local to you would have it, and of course, the dealer would have it...
I am sorry for missing the obvious...

Hey guys new member here, if somebody could help me out so it's clear that would be muchly appreciated! I have an M113 5.0 from a 2003 E500 that I want to swap into my 97 C180, what exactly are all the parts I need to have before I'm able to complete the swap, thanks guys!

It would be much better to start your own thread - not too many people will answer an engine swap question in a thread about windshield wipers. In addition, this is a W220 (S-Class, 1999 to 2005), and you are very unlikely to get an answer on swapping an engine from an E-Class to a C-Class...

Please help. Same issue 2006 s430. No wipers, no washer fluid action. Front lighter not working either. All died progressivly. Same exact situation as thread. Any solutions add of yet? Rain x only helps, not a solution. Thanks guys.

W220 2006 S430
I had the exact same problems on my 2006 S430 4Matic and it turned out to be a faulty EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) Got it changed for $350. Good as new.
