Mercedes CL600 2003
cl600 intercooler upgrade

Does anybody know what happens, or what one does, to all the sensors that attach to the air pipe body between the two intercoolers when you upgrade the intercoolers? What do they do? I brought Speedriven intercoolers for my 2003 CL600 and we don't know what to do with the superfluous sensors. Any advice on what it means removing these sensors would be much appreciated.
Also after test fitting, the starboard side intake pipe from the intercooler rubs against the small black reservoir. How did we get around this?

Hi, Roger- haven't heard from your installer and sorry to hear you're having troubles. Can you email a few photos over to Marcin? MarcinK@Speedriven.com is probably the best email. Also, was there an issue with the instructions, maybe, that didn't make what to do with the sensors clear?

I'm not familiar with their kit, but the air box filters basically just let the computer know what the pressure at the turbo inlet is relative to the atmospheric pressure (which is measured with a pressure sensor onboard the ECU itself). This may or may not be important for accurate fuel delivery and boost control, or it may just be for service interval purposes, I haven't been able to find a definite answer on that. In any case, they really should be installed into piping between the turbo and air filter. I believe the one after the passenger side intercooler and before the throttle body is primarily used diagnostically to identify problems with the electronic throttle body. The most important one by far is the one in the intake manifold itself.

I suggest you talk it over with speedriven though to confirm.

The V12TT ECU performs a lot of checks and balances using all its available sensors to detect various conditions, such as high altitude, blocked air filters, or leaking charge air pipes, which might threaten the turbos, the engine or the transmission. The air filter sensor outputs are part of those equations. This is described in the well-known "petrol Engine M275 Initial Training Information Module presentation slides set. Essential reading for all M275 owners.

Nick, do you have a downloaded copy of that PDF? Many of the links I have found are broken and it can only be viewed, not downloaded on the working link I found, which has a terrible and somewhat broken interface.

Compulsory reading for everyone else's benefit:

https://mbworld.org/forums/m275-v12-...75-freaks.html
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...3d5bb75ab.html

The link does work, but you have to be very patient.

There is no PDF or powerpoint file or anything like that. After some trial and error, I copied each slide to a Word document, picture by picture. The document is about 50MB, and I gave up trying to email it to various people.

If you drop me a line I'll see what I can do.

OK, I've split the document in two and saved it as two PDF files around 10MB each. Quality looks good. Drop me a PM with your emails address if you'd like a copy.

Thanks, PM sent. I have never gotten the link from that thread to load. Dunno if it's my computer or what. I was able to find another one googling at one point and was able to read the entire document, but I was having to reload it every so often and get creative to actually get it to display. Not sure I even was able to view all the pages. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to get it into a use-able format.

Just bought a 2004 S600. Eurocharged ECU and TCU...what kinda HP/TQ gains and top end improvements did you see? And cost? I see Kleemmer and Rrentech. How did they compare to Eurocharged? Thnx. for your input.

Eurocharged is by far the least expensive and they are all going to be extremely similar results. It's a whole different car with the boost turned up and the trans tuned.

Agreed, love the eurocharged tune on my car. Haven't even sent the TCU in yet but the tune is night and day, car has so much more power.

Don't put it off, the TCU stuff completely changes the car too. Plus, I started hitting the stock TCU torque limit all the time after the ECU tune but before I did the TCU. Turnaround was fast, I was down for less than a week without even paying for fast shipping.

Will do. The car right now is 100% stock, but I'll be doing downpipes soon and building my own intakes, so i'll do the TCU while it's apart. For now i've been beating the car hard and it's given me no problems.

I also think my trans is not perfect, i'm a little worried with a tune it may not survive. Only one way to find out though.

I also haven't had much confidence in my transmission. It always felt a little wacky to me. The TCU mods didn't change the behaviors that feel "off" to me, but they did make the car feel a lot less lazy. The way it shifts sometimes just doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling. But with that said, I am pretty rough on it overall and haven't had any issues or had it get any worse in the 12,000 or so miles I've put on the car in the last 2 years.

I got it wrong, I know, but I have a stock 2004 S600 and a 2003 S600 with Eurocharged ECU tune (and I'm curious about the TCU tune).

The stock car is fast, but the tuned car is a wild animal (when everything holds together).
