I need to find a CD for the southeast for my '03 nav system... they haven't had an update for the older CD based ones since like 2009 and my car came from the west coast so all i have is the 2002 version california disc

unfortunately the updated DVD only works on the 2004-2006 systems

I know, I'd be ok with old maps, I know it's gonna be a sucky nav. But I can't even see my position or use the GPS side of it without having a local area disc in there.

You need CD nav disk 9, or the full set. Unfortunately, the sellers know that they have something rare, so either will be expensive. This is the cheapest that I see on eBay at the moment - $52 for disk 9.

If you search, there are a few sets, for over $100. Make certain that the set that you buy includes disk 9!
Get the latest disk that you can find, and be sure that it is an original, not a burned copy.
Check Craigslist or similar sales sites close to you. You might luck up if you are patient and sit quietly at the mouse hole for a long time...

Yeah I know, I look from time to time and never find a great deal so I never bought anything. It's not really priority, I just would like to have the correct local disc, but it's not worth a lot to me. For $52 though I might just get that one. Usually when they come up they are closer to $90 each.

Resurrecting this thread.
I have 06 E55 AMG that I've decided to update the Nav. System. Checked my Nav. disk and it was a 2006 disk.
I have purchased a firmware disk and a 2015 nav disk from ebay (link that was shared here). Tried updating it today, but not sure if it did work or not. After updating, car cursor is now sitting in a middle of no where, no matter if display was set to 50 yards or 5 miles radius.
Not sure what my next step is... Suggestions?

All of my cars have had the earlier CD-based nav system, so I am not familiar with the updating, nor with the operation of the DVD-based system, but as a general rule, the car must sit with the power on in an area that is open to the sky for quite a while for the first initialization.

Thank you fellas!
Perhaps I should have listened and not gotten a cheap ebay copy. That being said, I got version 2015 from ebay. Once I've inserted the firmware CD, Nav system did upload... Or at least it showed on a screen that it was uploading. Uploading took no more than 2 minutes. Not sure how long it should take. But considering that the size of the original file is almost 3.5 GB, little voice inside my head says it didn't work as intended. But I will give it another go with a car sitting under an open sky.
