Parktronic Acting Up
My car has parktronic and now when i put the car in drive, instead of having the sensor ready to go - i see 2 sets of (2) red/orange indicators and a flat line beeeeeep. Then it goes off - and I don't have any use of parktronic.
Anyone have this problem on theirs?

I had a similar issue on my G500 in the past and that was due to some mud that was caked on to a sensor.
Going back to your leak, what ever happened to your headliner stain?

Is it the front or the rear sensors that are triggered in D?
I had a similar problem on my E63 with the left front Parktronic sensor and after testing, the techs told me it was the plate mounted EZPass - I didn't believe them at first but after I removed it, the problem has gone away.
Bizarre I know, but hope it helps.

Odd if it then does not show red lights both in the front and rear when reversing, after all both should be active when reversing. I guess something not related to rear or front sensors alone but a generic fault indicator. Didn't even see what the manual would say about this.

I have had that on the front only. That was due to a faulty sensor, as yours happen on both front and rear i doubt if it is dirt or the sensor is faulty.

I do!
Just that I need to repress it everytime I start the car.
I have an appointment for Nov. 22nd (need a loaner).
I wonder how many hours it takes to fix this? I was hoping it would be an in and out (well, at least only 1 working day so I could take the car back at the end)

I'll know more when I take the car in. I hope it's just a really quick fix.

It cannot be more than the sensors or the control box. They would need to detach the bumper to get access to the sensors (for replacing), it would not happen in a minute but in a day they should be able to take the car in parts and put everything back.

I will ask my Service advisor if this is feasable. I really don't want to go through the loaner car hassle - i mean - i know its not a hassle - but to drag the labor process on....

chucky what car does benz give you as a loaner while they work on your 550? i hate when i give my range rover to the dealer for work, and they give me a vehicle 50k less then my car. thats just not right.

However, I asked my S.A that he reserve me please an ML 350 because for work reasons, the extra room is great - and if I am meeting someone some place, I dont know if I will have to drive them around for whatever reason - I prefer to have a nice clean new ML - presentation.
Its not a snob factor - it just is what it is.

yes i agree with asking for an ML in place of the c class. I mean either way its still ludicrous that an owner of a S class should be asked to drive such an inferior car for the time of Benz fixing THEIR shortcomings on a 6 figure vehicle.

Should E / CLK drivers ever be in a C Class loaner ?
Should AMG be in non amg loaner?
It would not be possible to accomodate all S Class drivers with comparable cars. What I WOULD prefer.... is that they please not dilly dally when working. I don't blame the service advisor for the long wait time while they have the car - I lay that with the tech who is working on it.
I know first hand, that the techs enjoy more coffee / smoke / chat / food breaks than any other in the non union working world.
THAT is what makes our wait longer. To fix this parktronic (if they have the part) should involve removing bumper, taking sensor off, putting new sensor on, reapplying bumper.
Road test, check it - and thats it.
Not a week worth of work. We shall see how long it takes.

Having the same problem on my CL55. Intermittently, all sensors show just two red bars (yellow bars remain unlit) and sing like crazy the first time I put the car in drive. After a few seconds or so, the system turns itself off and as evidenced by the dashlight. Car is out of warranty too, any ideas?

I did a search on Parktronic issues, and I came upon this thread. I have the same issue with my 06 S65. When I get close to a car, the two red lights on the indicator light up, and it makes a loud continous beep, then deactivates on its own. When I turn it back on, I get the same problem, then it turns off again. After awhile driving, it starts to work correctly, but not for long. It then does it again. So, it basically works 15% of the time, and the rest of the time I have issues. Just wondering if any of you got this issue fixed, and what the issue was. I am still under warranty, so I am going to make an appointment to get it checked out. Thanks

Looks like you either have a bad sensor or then you have a front licence plate (and the car has not been adapted with SDS to the width of the front licence plate).

Hi guys, I have the same issue - I get the 4 red bars (2 left, 2 right) both on the front and rear parktronic and then it switches off by itself after a long beep. Can you please let me know how you fixed yours?
